Students at Ethiopia’s top religious college have been holding a hunger strike since Sunday, following Beyonce’s recent meeting with their patriarch, Abune Paulos. The singer and the patriarch met before she performed as part of celebrations of the country’s millennium. Student Daniel Techale said 30 of his friends had been hospitalized after the hunger strike and accused Beyonce of “provok[ing] the whole situation” while blasting the patriarch of “practically a nonreligious act. It’s unacceptable, or inappropriate, to say the least.”

Common is planning to ditch his music career for Hollywood, because he feels he will be more successful as an actor than he will ever be as a rapper. He told Vibe Magazine: “I need a new fulfillment as an artist. I feel like I can become a bigger actor than I am a rapper. “It’s scary thinking, ‘Damn, if I don’t sell no records, what am I going to do?’ When you haven’t made multimillions in this game, you got to think about what you want to be doing when you’re 50 or 60. I found an art that I really love and it’s infinite.”

Lionsgate has announced that the cable television rights to “Why Did I Get Married?” have been sold to TBS. “Why Did I Get Married?” will have its pay TV premiere on Showtime before the rights are given to TBS in March 2010. TBS is currently in syndication talks with BET.
