LaLa Vazquez — MTV/VH1 VJ and fiancee of Denver Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony — blew her top at Monday night’s NBA Playoff Game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Denver Nuggets.
On Tuesday, LaLa released a statement claiming she was the subject of racial taunts and violent threats from Mavericks fans:
“Obviously the play-off games bring out the best and the worst in fans but what happened on Monday night with the racial slurs/threats, verbal attacks on my son and physical attacks to myself by irate fans was unacceptable. The fans were totally out of control. What the cameras captured was me defending myself and didn’t show the abuse that was taking place.” Footage shot at last night’s game showed LaLa cursing and getting hostile as security tried to escort her out of the stands. The Mavs and the Nugs are set to face off again ”
Akon is in discussions to record the official song of the 2010 soccer World Cup.
“I’m going to South Africa for a meeting about the 2010 World Cup. I’m the official music coordinator. It means I’ll produce the official World Cup song and I’ll oversee all the official music,” the R&B singer revealed in an interview with The London Paper this week.
But the “I Wanna Love You” star says he won’t be enlisting the help of any soccer players in putting together lyrics.
“If David Beckham said he wanted to contribute musically, I’d advise him not to. He’d definitely be better off playing. It doesn’t work when athletes try to become musicians.”

Eminem and ABC late night host Jimmy Kimmel will fly about 200 jobless auto workers to Los Angeles for Friday’s taping of the Motor City-born rapper’s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Eminem is in the middle of a fierce promo tour for the May 19 release of Relapse, his first studio album in four years. The media blitz will include two more appearances on Kimmel, on Tuesday, May 19 and Friday, May 22.
Em says he’s eager to show support for the community where he grew up, particularly in light of what he perceives as the media’s lack of focus on the massive layoffs in the American auto industry.
“In all the media coverage Detroit is getting, everyone forgets about the people that have lost their jobs without getting big cash payouts after dedicating themselves to the auto industry,” Eminem said in a statement to The Detroit Free Press on Monday night. “Jimmy Kimmel and I got to talking, and we wanted to remind everyone that there are real people affected by what’s going on in Detroit, and try to show some of them a good time while we’re at it.”

“The Boss” has been thrust into the spotlight yet again — and this time its got nothing to do with baby mamas, fur coats, or 50 Cent. Apparently, Rick Ross thought it would be a good idea to floss some knockoff Louis Vuitton shades he copped down on Canal Street for the cover of the May issue of XXL. On Monday, the editors of XXL received this letter from LV concerning the counterfeit sunglasses featured on their May 2009 cover:
Dear Editor:
We were dismayed to see the cover of the May 2009 issue of XXL Magazine, which features a photo of Rick Ross wearing a pair of sunglasses prominently featuring counterfeit Louis Vuitton trademarks. Because the photo has generated considerable confusion among your readers and Louis Vuitton customers among others, we feel it is important to clarify several points.
The first is that the sunglasses Mr. Ross is wearing were not made by Louis Vuitton, and in fact, are counterfeit. Louis Vuitton did not grant permission to Mr. Ross or to whoever did make the sunglasses to use our trademarks. The second is that no affiliation, sponsorship or association exists between Rick Ross or XXL and Louis Vuitton. The third is that counterfeiting is illegal.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to correct the confusion.
Sincerely,
Michael D. Pantalony, Esq.
