Washed-up ‘America’s Next Top Model: Cycle One’ winner Adrianne Curry has created waves with a posting blasting the ‘racism’ of Black History Month and Black Entertainment Television.
Yes, I get it. Black people were slaves here once. You know what? That does suck some major balls, however, it is time to move the fuck on. Do we hear the Jews crying that they were made slaves for thousands of years? Do we hear them whine that they should OWN the pyramids in Egypt because THEY broke their backs making them? Do we hear them bitch and moan about Hitler, etc? (my hubby is a Jew)Nope, we dont. It’s time for us to UNITE AS ONE. I do not think that singling out one race, giving one race opportunities to go to college (I know a TON of poor white.asian, indian, american indian, etc etc that could use that too!), giving one race the EXCUSE to blame things on others for being whatever nationality they are, is a good way at making sure we NEVER kill racism.

Unfortunately, Adrienne is just showing her ignorance. It is not a bad thing though. It is good she is speaking her mind and has created at least an open dialog on the subject. She is honest about her beliefs, and I respect that. She legitimately sounds like she is confused and just does not know. I don’t think it is coming from a place of hate but it sounds like she has not had a lot of experience with having very close Black friends for an extended amount of time. Trying to be a quote “Credential Carrier” by dating one of the Blackest guys in high school does not count. There are a lot of people just like her to truly do not get it.
Black History Month, BET, JET Magazine and Ebony magazine are not racists. It is not an exclusion but a celebration. There is mainstream American and then there are those who are typically left out or not really recognized on a daily basis. Those particular groups homosexuals, hispanics, Asians, African-Americans create their own culture and celebration to uplift themselves and bring up their self-worth and celebrate their culture and differences. They have to create their own magazines, televisions stations, radio stations, Heritage and History months ect…because if they did not they would be ignored. Everyone is looking out for their own agenda.
It is just like moving to China and being only 3% of the population. Sure you want to assimilate and learn the culture and join with the natives but how many TV shows, radio stations, magazines are going to be 1st of all in English, secondly, how many are going to be based on American culture and tradition. Most will be in the Chinese and the traditon of the Chinese culture.
Everyone needs to stop being so offened when someone wants to celebrate their cultural difference. I do believe Adrienne is racist but her racism I believe comes from a point of ignorance not hatred.
Girl……get informed and open your mind and time to spend with other cultures, especially African Americans. Slavery has nothing to do with it. Do you question Cino de Mayo? Hispanic Hertiage Month? Green Day? Asian Pacific Month? Chinese New Year? Give Black people a break. They, we have been through enough……but again the fight to peacefully educate continues….Ignorance is not Bliss….it is a shame!!!

You have lost all support and hopefully will reap the reprecussions of your slander. If Tyra knew what was good for her, she would disown your name as a representative of America’s Next Top Model. I am not White. I have been on the end of Racism from Whites and yes it is upsetting. My culture never went through the horror of Slavery on the level it did in America or the modern atrocities that would even cause a whole nation of Black people to riot in the U.K. and U.S. I don’t pretend to know what it is to be Black, I wouldn’t know what it is like to face the kind of hatred out there, but I have had a little taste even though it is basically name calling.
The strangest thing to me is that I have recieved the same Racism from Black people I did not know. I have had Black friends in the past but had to move far away and lost contact. The thing is how can Black people say Racist things to a Nationality that did not opress them knowing all the things that they have been through? In my experience Black people can be very Racist too. I did not retaliate, Plus I didn’t really want a violent confrontation, what would it be like to physically fight everyone who wanted to get to you? I think it says more about the person who uses this Racism to attack somebody they do not know.
It is Black people that say things like:
White Men Can’t Jump.
White Men Have No Rythm.
White People Can’t Sing.
White People Are Not Well Endowed…
White Man Prevents The Balck Man Being Successful.
There are probably more, this ISN’T predjudice.
I genuinely have nothing against Black people despite that, I would take every individual as an individual, But I can say that a lot of Black people are fast to bring up the Race issue when something doesn’t go their way.
Even when there are many clear Black role models and Black people who already made it through their God given Talent, Hard Work and Luck and Support. It is very easy to to point blame at others.
The thing is I want to make a few points and it is only My opinon you may not agree.
There were Twelve million black Africans were shipped to the Americas from the 16th to the 19th centuries according to Wikipedia. That is the size of one hell of an Army to fight back.
If you are not well armed enough to defend yourself, Your Technology is not well developed enough, Your Army is not well organized enough to defend your people getting taken to become slaves, You ARE going to be SCREWED by people who are willing to do anything to gain advantages, Willing commit Atrocities, willing to kill inoccent people for basically their Greed and betterment. If Africa wanted to, they could have put an Army together and gone to war to free their people. As I understand from information I have Read There were Blacks selling Blacks into Slavery and even Black plantation owners with Black slaves.
(I read this, That is the only way I have information, It may not be accurate.) Australian Aboriginees and American Indians had their lives taken and their land taken because of the same facts.
Africa Still has problems with Famine, Water Purification, Civil War, Disease. Is this really ALL due to the White Man? Maybe it is correct me if I am wrong. I am sure that people interfere but surely there is nobody holding Black people back from improving those communities and succeeding there. Those conditions are horrifically harsh, I get that and I probably wouldn’t last a second.
Remember this, as bad as you think White people are, There were some who acknowledge what was wrong in America and they built a movement to fight for you and free the Black slaves. Well you may be thinking well thats the least they could do, that is nothing. They did free you with a war and then built colleges to help illiteracy. The thing is I notice that some Black people hate all things White and White people in general but I think the fact that a large amount of people put their lives on the line to free Black people shows that you must hate RACISTS and not a race. Africa could not free its own people.
The thing is I half agree with what Adrianne Curry has to say, because there are many other cultures in the world who have suffered and I don’t hear other cultures blame everything on Racism. Black people are already very successful despite the things in the past. The thing is Black people care about Black issues because that is what they relate to, but how about the other slavery that exists in the modern world. Those Nikes and sportswear are made in massive sweat factories with poor conditions and pay. Are we going to help those people, Are we going to stop these things? Or do we only care when the injustice is related directly to us or our Race? When will Black people be satisfied - when they are totally dominant and the White man has to pay? I heard a nutty Black proffesor say that ALL whites should be killed!
The Holocaust is horrific too, but again I say for the 600,000 people who were marched to their deaths, if they were armed properly and fought well enough not to be screwed so badly. But I understand that they did not know they were being murdered at the time.
I hope my opinion doesn’t anger people, It is just my opinion formed by experience and what I have read, and all that is read may not be accurate. This type of conversation tends to rub people the wrong way.
