Bernie Mac was a comedic genius. Many people see comedians as simple funny men–people who tell a few jokes, make us laugh. It’s a lot more than that. Great comedy is full of creativity, originality and social commentary. It requires one to be on the lookout for new material, a writer, a performer and an actor–a jack of all trades. Bernie Mac excelled in all these fields.

Bernie Mac was born in poverty and worked in a variety of arduous jobs before he got his break. He received this break not because of luck but due to the undeniable fact he worked hard, honed his craft, and possessed the comedic genius to get noticed. And after that break he just grew and grew.

Like a lot of people, I discovered him from watching the Kings of Comedy. He was something else, wasn’t he? His comedic genius, mannerisms, and ability to work the crowd cemented his place amongst the comedic giants I’m sure he idolized as a child. You’ve reached the top too soon my friend. Thank you for all of the laughter and joy you’ve brought in my life and those around the world.

DONT EVEN KNOW WHERE TO START BUT TO SAY THE LORD IS OUR SHEPARD, AND THE MAC MAN IN WITH OUT FATHER AND I KNOW HE IS LOOKING DOWN WITH A BIG SMILE ON HIS FACE. HE BLESSED SO MANY WITH HIS FUNNY JOKES, BRIGHT SMILE, UNIQUE VOICE AND A WONDERFUL SOUL AND PERSONALITY. NO ONE CAN REPLACE THE MAC MAN. THERE IS SO KINGS OF COMEDY WITH OUT HIM. MAN I WAS WACTHING FRIDAY THE OTHER DAY TRIPPIN OFF THE MAC MAN AND HOW HE IS TRULY FUNNY. HE WAS A TALENTED MAN, AND TO LOOSE HIM AT A YOUNG AGE. THE MAC MAN WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN AND WILL ALWAYS KEEP LAUGHTER IN HOMES AND HEART. I WILL MISS U B.MAC!

l loved Bernie Mac..When I turned on my computer Saturday morning and saw that he had passed… I just sat there staring.. That Friday, reports said that he was responding well to treatment!!! This really freaked me out!! Doing well one day and gone the next!!! The “who you wit” I like to say around my friends!! And he also has that special way of saying “tonight”" It also brought to light a disease that I had never heard of and might possibly have… When I called Kaiser to schedule a checkup, the receptionist told me that the phones had been ringing off the hook with people wanting info and scheduling appointments… My dearest sympathies go out to his wife and family!!!! We’re gonna miss ya !!! But we know who you wit now!! God Bless You!!!

my heartfilled condolensces for the family of bernie mac. when i heard the news i cried on impact. my daughter asked, mommy why are crying. you acting like you knew him. the saddest thing was, it felt like i did. whenever i felt bad or depress and i needed that raw entertainment to put laughter in my heart. i called on bernie mac. let it had been the kings of comedy, the movie life or just watchin him on tv, it was like calling that one friend or family member that could make all the pain go awai loved bernie mac for that. he was man that fans could relate to. im sure heaven is glad to have one of its original kings back home. steve succeeded in performing before gospel fest without cussing, im sure bernie will do the same for the angels that came and blessed his soul. may you rest in peace mac man.
