BET ‘Hot Ghetto Mess’ Changes Controversial Name To ‘We Can Do Better’

BET’s Charlie Murphy-hosted series “Hot Ghetto Mess” has changed its controversial name to “We Can Do Better.”
The show, set for a Wednesday night debut on BET, has been accused of perpuating stereotypes against African-Americans. ‘Hot Ghetto Mess’ is a television spin-off of the wildly successful website of the same name. HotGhettoMess.com was created by DC born attorney Jam Donaldson.
“The show is about the fact that as a society, we must do better,” says Charlie’s publicist Lyndsey Belle Tyler. “They wanted to put the emphasis there. Basically, people need to watch on Wednesday and formulate their own opinion.”
State Farm and Home Depot are among the sponsors who have pulled their ads from the series.
