Rock and roll pioneer Bo Diddley died of heart failure at his home in Florida on Monday, the Associated Press reports. He was 79.
“One of the founding fathers of rock ‘n’ roll has left the building he helped construct,” said a statement released by a rep for the music legend.
Bo Diddley was born December 30, 1928, in McComb, Mississippi. Bo suffered a heart attack in August 2007, three months after suffering a stroke while on tour.
Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987, Bo was known as “The Originator” for his unique guitar work and creative songwriting.
