According to a backup dancer for Chris Brown, the “Run It” hitmaker was going to perform a tribute to pop legend Michael Jackson at tonight’s BET Awards but was shut down after Jay-Z complained to the network.
As we all know, Chris Brown pleaded guilty last week to violently assaulting Hov’s prodigy, Rihanna.

Chris Brown, once known for his “young Michael Jackson” comparisons, has been denied from participating in a tonight’s tribute to the late King of Pop at tonight’s BET Awards in Los Angeles, EgyptSaidSo is reporting.
Word is BET producers fear having Brown participate in the tribute to Jackson would upset fans of the network, who are still on edge after the crooner’s assault on singer Rihanna earlier this year.
Earlier this week, Brown — who performed Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” during the 2006 World Music Awards in London — hailed the star as the reason why he wanted to become an entertainer.
Queen Latifah will hosting BET’s televised After Party Bash, which will air immediately after the live show — hosted by Jamie Foxx — live from The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on June 28.

The nominees for the 2009 BET were announced this week, and Beyoncé and T.I. lead this year’s nominations with five nods a piece, while Keri Hilson, Lil Wayne and T-Pain each nabbed four in advance of the annual ceremony.
The 2009 BET Awards, hosted by Jamie Foxx, will air June 28 from The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
