Akon tried to stop a concert in Australia from breaking into violence by leaping offstage and ordering brawling fans to “calm down.” The R&B star was performing at Melbourne’s HiSense Arena as part of his co-headlining gig with T-Pain when rival gangs began fighting, prompting Akon to halt the show, forcing his way through the crowd.
Immigration officials in the Outback have previously refused the Smack That star entry into the country over his past run-ins with the law.
“It took me almost two years for Australia to let me back in the country. And I’m not going to let them fuck up my concert tonight!”
A woman trying to serve Akon with court papers for child support payments claims he is dodging process servers, who even showed up at Michael Jackson’s memorial in an attempt to catch him. Sarah Coleman, who has a 6-month old child with the Grammy-nominated crooner, says she has been trying to have the “Smack That” hitmaker served for more than a month.
Attorneys for Akon have denied the R&B superstar is running away from his financial responsibilities as a father – insisting the legalities surrounding the case have been difficult due to the star and Coleman living in separate states.
In a statement, a lawyer for the star says, “Akon has taken responsibility and has been extremely cooperative and proactive in handling this private matter. Paternity was only established just over 30 days ago. Since the case was filed outside of Georgia jurisdiction, where he is a legal resident, Akon is currently in the process of engaging counsel in California and will continue to handle this matter in a timely manner.”
Akon was one of the last people to work closely with Michael Jackson before his death nearly two weeks ago. The pair collaborated on MJ’s ’80s hit “Wanna Be Startin’ Something” for last year’s Thriller 25th Anniversary Edition.

Akon is the latest entertainment notable joining the celebrity scent craze. The “Smack That” star will launch two new fragrances later this year.
Akon recently formed Konvict Cosmetics, and he is planning to launch Konvicted, a scent aimed at younger consumers, and Aliaune, titled after the singer’s real name and marketed toward a more mature audience.
Akon is in discussions to record the official song of the 2010 soccer World Cup.
“I’m going to South Africa for a meeting about the 2010 World Cup. I’m the official music coordinator. It means I’ll produce the official World Cup song and I’ll oversee all the official music,” the R&B singer revealed in an interview with The London Paper this week.
But the “I Wanna Love You” star says he won’t be enlisting the help of any soccer players in putting together lyrics.
“If David Beckham said he wanted to contribute musically, I’d advise him not to. He’d definitely be better off playing. It doesn’t work when athletes try to become musicians.”
