Double take! Grammy winner Alicia Keys — who is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the release of her hit debut album Songs in A Minor — posed with a new wax likeness of herself at Madame Tussauds Museum in her native Manhattan on Tuesday.
Can you believe its been 10 years since Alicia Keys splashed will release a special 10th Anniversary edition of her groundbreaking debut Songs in a Minor A on June 28.
The original edition of the album sold more than 12 million copies worldwide when it was released in the Summer of 2001 and earned Keys her first five of a career total 14 Grammy Awards.
Alicia Keys — who celebrated Grammy night by sharing the Best Rap Song Grammy with Jay-Z for their smash collaboration on “Empire State of Mind” — has connected Hewlett-Packard for the company’s new “Everybody On” ad campaign, which launched during the 2011 Grammy Awards on Sunday. The new mom appears in a commercial which looks back on her days of home recording her much-lauded debut album, Songs in A Minor, and praising the company’s music friendly software.
“You could imagine how we tortured the neighbors. They would bang on the ceiling with a broom come like three or four in the morning when I’m sitting here singing passionately at the top of my voice,” Alicia says in the ad.
“I really feel like a lot of that is the reason why that album has a particular feeling that it does, because we didn’t have anything (you know). Sometimes, when you don’t have much (you know), you make the best out of what you have and it creates a vibe and an energy.”
Singing pianist Alicia Keys has teamed up with pal Eve to lay down vocals on “Speechless,” a tribute song recorded in honor of the Grammy winner’s newborn son, Egypt.
