There was only “1 Thing” Amerie wanted to say this weekend: “I Do.” The “Why Don’t We Fall In Love?” songstress (sometimes known as Ameriie) got hitched to her longtime boyfriend, former Columbia Records executive Lenny Nicholson, in Anguilla, British West Indies on Saturday. The couple announced their engagement last year

“This is such an exciting time for me. This is my first marriage and I am over the moon,” Ameriie — who added the extra i in her name last year — told PEOPLE. “I look forward to a loving and enduring marriage. This day couldn’t come any sooner for me…I am beyond thrilled,” she added. “I will remember this day forever.”

The bride, 30, wore a dramatic Monique Lhullier gown with a cathedral train, along with baby blue Yves Saint Laurent Tribute sandals, while the groom was decked out in a Hugo Boss tuxedo. The couple will spend their honeymoon rat the Viceroy Resorts’ 5,000 sq. ft. Romance Villa and its accompanying private beach.

Ameriie’s fifth studio album, “Cymatika Vol. 1,” is slated for a Spring 2012 release.

Desperate times call for desperate measures….And unfortunately for Amerie ,(or Ameriie, as she’s spelling it these days) so do abysmal album sales.

The “One Thing” singer is doing whatever it takes to stay relevant musically, including swapping her lengthy chocolate locks for a new platinum blonde ‘do. Here’s how Amerie explained her new style change in a chat with the Good Folks at Rap-Up.com.

“I’ve always wanted to go platinum blonde, and I figured I’d finally just do it. One of the things that inspired me are photos I’ve seen of children in the Solomon Islands. They are very brown-skinned, and a lot of them grow white-blonde hair naturally. The contrast in dark skin tone and extremely light hair is really beautiful to me. So I just went for it!”

Singer Amerie has officially changed the spelling of her name — but will it help her sell albums?

The Grammy-nominated songbird now goes by Ameriie. The “1 Thing” hitmaker says she added an “I” to her name to reflect positive energy. Ameriie has been in the studio working on the follow-up to last year’s In Love & War called Cymatika Vol. 1 (which was also originally spelled with a “c” before it was changed to a “k”), named after the study of visible sound and vibration.

“I operate on vibes and intuition, and I believe everything is energy; the vibration of the double I is right for me. Slightly different spelling, completely same pronunciation!”

The “Why Don’t We Fall In Love?” hitmaker is set to wed her manager boyfriend, Lenny Nicholson. Amerie, 30, accepted Nicholson’s proposal — and a pink diamond ring — during a romantic trip to Paris last month.

But her publicist was forced to quash rumors that the couple had eloped.

“…She is not getting married (yet), she just got engaged, that’s it.”

The “1 Thing” hitmaker is busy promoting the release of her fourth album In Love & War.

Men say: If I’ve only been seeing a woman for a month, I’m not expected to be exclusive.
Amerie says: Unless it’s been explicitly stated that you two are exclusive, it’s best to assume you’re not. Women date men—as in going out on “dates”—and feel awkward if they run into him on a date with someone else. Trust me, if a man doesn’t say so, he’s not exclusive and probably sleeping with someone else.

Men say: Cheating is only an issue if you get caught.
Amerie says: One of the consequences of cheating is that you only trust somebody as much as you trust yourself. Even the whole line of “wanting space”—they’ve probably already cheated at least once. It’s thinking, “I don’t want to risk losing this person, so instead of being honest, I’ll put them on the side while I get all this stuff out my system.”

Men say: Women settle more easily than men.
Amerie says: Men rarely settle; they won’t wife up someone they don’t feel is worthy of them. A woman can persistently chase a man, and he may sleep with her, but it’ll never make him love her. Yet a guy that a woman’s not interested in can hound her, and if he’s persistent enough, he’ll wear her down. Women are more malleable. Yet, we’re still the smarter sex. Men can’t handle the truth about women—that we can be as noncommittal, manipulative, and promiscuous as they are.

New Music from Amerie! The satin-toned “1 Thing” hitmaker, who has struggled to make a splash on the charts over the past few years, is set to release her third album later this year.
