Music legend Aretha Franklin will perform at President-Elect Barack Obama’s inauguration in the Nation’s Capital on January 20, congressional leaders announced Wednesday.
The program line-up will also include a prayer by Pastor Rick Warren and a cello performance by Yo-Yo Ma.

Aretha Franklin could lose her home to the Tax Man. The Queen of Soul says an attorney’s mistake caused her $700,000 1927 brick-mansion in Detroit to slip into foreclosure over $445 in 2005 taxes and late fees. Arethan now owes $19,192 in back taxes on the property between 2005-2007. The legendary songstress also owes $18,746 in back taxes and fees for the 2006 and 2007 tax years, but foreclosure proceedings on those debts wouldn’t begin until next year.

Beyonce daddy has some fightin’ words for The Queen of Soul. Legendary songstress Aretha Franklin issued an egotistical press release on Tuesday blasting Beyonce and Grammy Awards writers after Bey referred to another singing legend, Tina Turner, as “The Queen” during Sunday night’s 50th Annual Grammy Awards. Matthew Knowles wants to know what all the fuss is about, he says:
“As a manager I am not taking something this ridiculous to Beyonce. Beyonce referred to Tina Turner as a ‘queen. Not queen of gospel, queen of soul, queen of blues, Queen of England. I consider my wife a queen and sometimes call her that. Does Aretha have a problem with that?”
