Bow Wow has announced that he plans to retire from the recording industry in a bid to concentrate on his burgeoning career in acting.
“I think I have a better chance at getting an Oscar before a Grammy. The music industry is so fickle, there’s so many politics. I think a lot of people don’t pay attention to the credits or the artistry no more,” the hip hop star said in an interview with the Associated Press. “I think there’s so much concern about what’s going on right now instead of the actual artistry. But that’s how the record business is. But for acting, I got that covered.”
The rapper will reprise his role on HBO’s Entourage this summer. He will also appear in the Hurricane Katrina-inspired basketball drama, Hurricane Season, with Forest Whitaker, Taraji P. Henson, and Lil Wayne, later this year.
Bow Wow just-released eighth studio album, New Jack City II.
Bow Wow came underfire Wednesday for dissing an interview with radio shock jock Wendy Williams to chat with her longtime rival–on and off the air–Hot 97’s Angie Martinez.

Bow Wow is currently promoting his new album New Jack City Part II.
