“I haven’t been with a man seriously and in love in six years. And, honestly, I tend to abstain if I’m not in a relationship,” she tells the magazine. “Although it hasn’t actually been a full six years, it’s been a long time. We’re talking years. I actually went on a blind date a couple months ago that was very interesting but nothing serious,” she adds, noting that she tried to get back in the dating game with “Low” rapper Flo Rida.

“I was very interested in him. I mean, how can you not be — he’s very attractive. But there was just something about us that didn’t click.”

Nineties R&B songbird-turned-VH1 reality star Brandy was unveiled as one of the famous faces who will compete for the Mirrorball Trophy on the 11th season of the ABC ballroom reality competition Dancing With The Stars.

But the nervous former Moesha star admits fear kept her from hitting the DWTS floor in the past.

“I’m really nervous, but I always tend to do things that I’m really afraid of and I’ve always been afraid to do Dancing With The Stars,” Brandy told RadarOnline.com. “I felt like this was the season to go head on and face my fears. It means everything to me. To be able to overcome your challenges of course, because that’s what life is about, overcoming things and experiencing good times and bad times,” she said.

“Being back on stage doing something completely different to anything I’ve ever done, as well as filming my reality show and doing the album, I couldn’t feel happier. I feel very blessed. I’m so excited, so excited!”

Dancing With The Stars kicks off with a two-hour season premiere Sept. 20 @ 8PM on ABC.

Despite breaking up with him months ago, it sounds like Brandy is a little bitter that Flo Rida has moved on. Or maybe it’s who he’s moved on with.

In Touch Weekly tipsters snitch that the “Brokenhearted” crooner — who was was notoriously dicey about the nature of her relationship with the “Low” hitmaker — is nursing her wounds after learning that Flo ditched her to hook up with model Eva Marcille. The Young & The Restless actress rose to fame after taking top honors on Tyra Banks’ America’s Next Top Model a few years ago and most recently made headlines after splitting from fiance Lance Gross just weeks before the couple’s Spring wedding.

The tabloid writes:

“She’s telling people that she split up with Flo Rida to focus on her own busy life, but Brandy, 31, is actually heartbroken after her man left her for model Eva Marcille. ‘Brandy just cried,’ a friend tells In Touch. Though her rep says, ‘They were only good friends and not dating,’ the friend adds, ‘She really liked him. She had no idea he would just move on.’ Flo Rida has been publicly stepping out with America’s Next Top Model star Eva, 25. The pair dined at Brandy’s favorite Beverly Hills spot, Crustacean, a few days after cuddling backstage at the BET Awards on June 27.”

A little birdie tells us that Brandy — who has been largely absent from the music scene since the release of her ill-fated 2008 album Human — has signed a new deal with Def Jam Records.

It’s been a tough few years, but things finally seem to be looking up for ’90s R&B songbird Brandy. She’s still got the voice that made her a Grammy-winning golden girl more than 15 years ago, and her hit VH1 reality soap, Brandy & Ray J: A Family Business, will be back for a second season.

In a new interview with Parade Magazine, the “Angel In Disguise” crooner chats about how life is treating her now.

Brandy On Her Relationship With Daughter Sy’rai, 7: “…Our relationship is so beautiful. I love being a mom and I’m raising her in a different way than how I was raised. Some things that my mom did with me, I do with my daughter — it’s just a different dynamic. I would love for people to see how I’m doing it because I think I could be a good example of a young, single mom.”

On Relationship With Ray J: “We are very close, almost scary close! [laughs] We don’t have sibling rivalry, but discovering different aspects of our relationships on the show is very interesting. For example, Ray is very business savvy while I’m not. I’m very emotional and very artistic. He is too, but he’s more into ‘I’ve got to make money.’ Sometimes I want him to just be my brother all the time, but he can’t because he’s a businessman.”

“Plus, there was a period of time when we didn’t work so closely together, so when we’d come together it would just be ‘brother’ and ‘sister.’ Now that we’re starting a company and show together I’m seeing different sides of our relationship, which is good because it’s brought us closer in the areas that we didn’t know existed in our relationship.”

On Mom Sonja Norwood: “Yes, what you see is what you get with my mom. But she loves her children and she’ll do anything for us. It’s been difficult for her to let go and let us take the lead. She is aggressive and strong, but I think she’s a great example of a mom who is about her business and loves her kids unconditionally.”

Would Brandy Follow In The Footsteps Of Brother Ray J By Appearing In A Dating Reality Show? “No! I will not do a reality show about finding love; you can’t find love, love finds you. What I’m looking for in a guy is myself — the qualities that I find in myself are what I’m looking for in my soul mate. I want a guy who is loyal, honest and big on communication. I’m also really big on romance. I want to be able to receive what I give. It’s all about giving and receiving.”

Brandy — who VH1 reality series got a second season order on Wednesday — gave a special performance at R&B Live Hollywood at the Key Club on Wednesday night. The nineties’ R&B “It Girl” turned in a rendition of her 1999 ballad “Almost Doesn’t Count,” in addition to a cover of Etta James’ classic “At Last!”

(Let’s hope she asked permission first. We all remember the tongue-lashing Beyonce got when she tried that!)
