Carmelo Anthony and his new bride, former MTV/VH1 VJ LaLa Vazquez, are already capitalizing on the star guard’s trade from the Denver Nuggets to the New York Knicks.

On Wednesday morning, VH1 announced that ‘Melo and LaLa will appear in a new reality series, working under the title LaLa’s Full Court Life. The 30-minute docu-series, which began filming in January, will pick up where the couple’s wedding special, LaLa’s Full Court Wedding, left off, following the newlyweds as they prepare for their move to New York City following the hoopster’s trade to the Knicks on Monday.

“Viewers connect with La La because despite the fairy-tale wedding and NBA star husband, she is a real, down-to-earth, hardworking woman who stays true to herself,” said Jeff Olde, VH1′s Executive Vice-President of Original Programming and Production. “The best thing about the new series is that while pursuing and realizing her dreams, La La gets to take us back to her home in New York, where her story began.”

The 10-episode series will begin airing in August.

This means Brooklyn-born, Baltimore-raised Carmelo and his new wife — former MTV VJ Lala Vasquez — will be moving back to the hometown, the pro baller’s desired destination. The reported deal also pairs Anthony alongside current Knicks star Amare Stoudemire.

“Mel and I went to Costa Rica for our honeymoon! It was such a fun trip, I would recommend it to anyone,” wrote Vasquez on her Official Website. “From fishing to ziplining, there was so much to do. The food there is incredible, which is why I’m back in the gym BIG TIME..LOL!”

The bride wore a Vera Wang wedding gown gifted to her by pal Kim Kardashian as she exchanged vows with Anthony in a ceremony performed by Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, PEOPLE dished. Among the 300 invited guests were Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Lakers hoopster Lamar Odom, the Miami Heat’s newest star LeBron James, director Spike Lee, hip-hop star Ludacris, and singer Kelly Rowland.

The happy couple — who enjoyed a five year engagement — are parents to a three-year-old son named Kiyan. He served as ring bearer.

Lala and ‘Melo will chronicle the weeks leading up to their nups in a untitled VH1 reality series premiering later this summer.

The still-untitled five-part, half-hour series will premiere on Monday, September 13 before wrapping up with a 90-minute wedding finale airing in October.

“The series begins with the betrothed couple, La La and Carmelo, meeting with A-list wedding planner to the stars Mindy Weiss and follows them through all the wedding planning festivities,” VH1 said in a statement Monday. “Viewers will ride along as La La shops for the perfect designer wedding dress, chooses the wedding venue, picks out the ultimate wedding cake and menu, plans their honeymoon, and contemplates the guest list, all while maintaining her and Carmelo’s hectic schedules.”

The statement continues: “Along the way viewers will also get a glimpse at La La’s celeb-hosted bachelorette party in Las Vegas, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the couple as they gather with their family and friends to prepare for the big day. The series will culminate in a 90-minute lavish celebrity-filled wedding finale in New York that only this superstar couple could host.”

The show will likely feature scenes from LaLa’s weekend bachelorette party. Her best lady friends, socialite Kim Kardashian and singer Kelly Rowland, jetted off to Las Vegas and Friday night to party it up as a single trio one last time.

The gated property is approximately 6,500 square feet and has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms — plenty of room for the Denver Nuggets star and his fiancee of nearly six years. Lala is a familiar face to any frequent viewers of the celebrity love reunion shows on VH1; she has hosted reunion shows for Flavor of Love, I Love New York, and For the Love of Ray J.

The couple — who became engaged on Christmas Day 2004 — will wed in New York City this July. They have a son, 3-year-old Kiyan Carmelo Anthony.
