Chris Brown and Jill Scott will take the stage at this month’s BET Awards, while R&B icon Patti LaBelle is up for the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award. Chris and Jill join the previously announced Alicia Keys as performers for this year’s BET Awards show in Los Angeles, show organizers said Tuesday. Brown leads the field with nominations in six categories. Scott, an R&B superstar, poet, and actress, is set to release her fifth studio album Light of the Sun later this month.

The 2011 BET Awards, hosted by comedian Kevin Hart, will air live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on June 26.

“Beat Her Down” will be the leading contender at next month’s 2011 BET Awards. The formerly-embattled R&B crooner is up for six prizes.

Chris Brown, who performed an emotional tribute to Michael Jackson at last year’s show, is up for Best Male R&B Artist, Viewer’s Choice, and Video of the Year for “Look at Me Now.” He’s nominated twice in the Best Collaboration category for his R&B hits “Deuces,” featuring Tyga and Kevin McCall, and “Look at Me Now,” with Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne. He’s also nominated for Best Actor trophy for his role in the heist thriller Takers.

Kevin Hart will host the 2011 BET Awards — celebrating the accomplishments of minorities in the entertainment industry — from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on June 26.

Well — no good can come of this. Rihanna added bruising ex-boyfriend Chris Brown to the list of people she follows on Twitter on Friday, and shortly thereafter, Brown added Rihanna to his list in return – a move that has many fans of the “S&M” singer fans instantly concerned.

The Entetainment World was set on its ear when Chris was collared for battering RiRi in a Pre-Grammy brawl back in 2009. Brown escaped serious time behind bars when he was sentenced to probation and community serious. The island-born beauty, 23, had been prohibited from having contact with her R&B star ex until earlier this year, when a judge lifted the restraining order against Brown, permitting the “Deuces” heartthrob to attend industry-sponsored events where their paths might cross.

He may have apologized, but people still have a lot to say about Chris Brown’s Good Morning America meltdown. The “No BS” singer made headlines last week after he hurled a chair through a window at ABC’s Manhattan studio and stormed out on to the street bare-chested, flying into a rage after being quizzed on his 2009 assault of then-girlfriend, singing superstar Rihanna, by GMA co-host Robin Roberts.

Following the March 23 incident, Chris — who has since accused Good Morning America producers of exploiting him — apologized for his actions.

“I want to apologize to anybody who was startled in the office, anybody who was offended or really looked disappointed at my actions because I was really disappointed in my actions.” Brown told the studio audience on BET’s 106 & Park last week.

It’s all a bit too little, too late for Williams.

“Listen I don’t think Robin was wrong for asking [about Rihanna]… Interviewers have every right to ask about it… Your rage was uncalled for,” Williams fumed on her March 24 broadcast. “Robin was right to ask you about Rihanna. You will get asked that question from now until the end of time… and you’d better figure out a politically and mature way of answering it! And P.S., why are your arms girly but everything else is manly?”

Wendy may soon have some ‘splainin’ to do for her Brown Outburst. The two are set to meet again when Chris performs on ABC’s Dancing With The Stars this Tuesday.

Chris Brown’s explosive temper is making headlines again after the volatile heartthrob hurled a chair through a window and stormed out of ABC Studios — topless — following a tense interview about his 2009 assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna with Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts Tuesday. Perhaps, not surprisingly, no one is more taken aback by Chris’ morning meltdown than his mother/manager, Joyce Hawkins.

A fierce supporter of her wayward son through his fall from public grace, court hearings, and most recently, a nude photo scandal, has told pals that she is “very disturbed and upset” by Chris’ behavior this week.

“Joyce spoke with Chris immediately after he left the studio in midtown,” a friend of Hawkins snitched to RadarOnline.com Wednesday. “She was very, very upset with him. Joyce isn’t only his mother, but his manager as well. She reminded Chris about how hard he had worked on the album, and Joyce didn’t seem distressed about the line of questioning that Robin Roberts gave him regarding Rihanna. Joyce told Chris not to lose his cool again, that is what people expect him to do. Chris listened to his mom, and seemed to take what she said to heart. Chris doesn’t want to disappoint Joyce at all, and he could hear it in her voice.”

Naturally, Chris’ cloud has a silver lining. Doesn’t it always? Not only is ABC refusing to file charges against the crooner for breaking that window. They’re keeping him scheduled as a performer on the family-friendly series Dancing With The Stars. And get this: The network has asked Chris Brown to come back on the show to discuss Tuesday’s event.

“We wish him the absolute best and … we’ve extended the invitation to him and I sure hope that he takes us up on it, because we’d love to have another chat with him,” Roberts said Wednesday.

Roberts said she was surprised the R&B singer flipped out after she asked him several questions about his ex-girlfriend, pop singer Rihanna, who he hit in 2009. He pleaded guilty to one charge of felony assault after the incident and is undergoing domestic violence counseling as part of his probation.

“Anytime we have a guest here on the program, we let them know ahead of time the subject matter, the topics that we’re going to discuss…even right before the interview, I said that to Chris and I was shocked like everybody else was,” Roberts said on the show.

Did we forget to mention that he’s leading the way on the Billboard charts. His new album, F.A.M.E. (Forgiving All My Enemies), is expected to debut No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with sales expected in the 250-275k range.

The newly-blonde crooner is under fire from critics after he reportedly lost his marbles and went batshit after performing on Good Morning America Tuesday.

Word on the Curb has it that the Grammy-nominated “Deuces” star became enraged when GMA host Robin Roberts began relentlessly grilling him about that infamous 2009 attack on his then-girlfriend Rihanna. The incident led to Brown’s arrest and his subsequent fall from grace. Brown tried to redirect the questions to focus on his album — but Roberts continued to ask about Brown’s legal issues stemming from the Rihanna incident. That’s when all Hades broke loose, spywitnesses say.

“We’re told after the interview, Brown freaked out, storming into his dressing room and screaming so loud, the people in hair and makeup became alarmed and called security,” TMZ.com reports. “We’re told Brown was out of control, and one source present tells us he smashed a window in his dressing room, and the glass shattered and some shards fell onto 43rd and Broadway.”

At least now he’s only hitting windows!

Apologize? In your dreams! Anger management alum Chris Brown says he’s done enough apologizing for assaulting former girlfriend Rihanna in that early Grammy morning attack back in 2009 — an incident the “No BS” hitmaker now calls an unfortunate “mishap.”

In an interview with the new issue of Page Six Magazine, the controversial singer – who most recently made headlines when nude photos he took of himself were leaked online – claims that “at the end of the day, if I walk around apologizing to everybody, I’m gonna look like a damn fool.”

He then goes on to describe himself as a “grown ass man” who is “in a positive place.”

Brown is still serving five years probation after recently completing court-mandated domestic violence classes and 180 hours of community service. The toughest part, though, is rebuilding his image in the public eye, Chris says.

“The last two years, everybody dissed me, but my fans were so dedicated. The way I look at it is, you can’t walk around mad, because then you just prove everybody right that you’re an angry person.”

In a series of Tweets over the weekend, R&B crooner Chris Brown debuted a platinum-blonde new look that’s already managed to divide the Twitterverse. Some of Brown’s Twitter followers like his new ‘do, calling it “phresh,” while other say he looks better with his natural color.

When he’s not tweaking his tresses, Chris is putting the finishing touches on his new album, F.A.M.E., which arrives on March 22. A video for “Look At Me Now” — Breezy’s new single featuring Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes — will premiere later this month.
