Hold on to your lacefronts: It’s about to be a WHAT?! — Diva Fight!

All Hell broke loose on the Twitterverse Friday evening as pop diva Rihanna — third in line behind Eminem and Lady Gaga to become the world’s most watched YouTuber — went toe-to-toe with embattled R&B star Ciara. The drama began when CiCi dropped by E!’s Fashion Police with Joan Rivers and Kelly Osbourne and served Miss RiRi with a bitter dish of Shade. According to the “Ride” hitmaker, Ol’ Forehead behaved like a giant heifer (Or in Joan’s words, “a bitch…”) when the pair ran into one another at a recent social function.

As you’ve likely heard, in recent weeks, Ciara has been in the headlines for lackluster sales for her fourth studio album, Basic Instinct, which prompted the star to lobby to be released from her recording contract with Jive/LaFace Records.

What transpired next is the stuff “Popcorn and Pay-Per View” are made of:

Ouch! It didn’t take long for other celebs to start weighing. Take comedian Katt Williams, for instance, who had this to say:

Katt Williams: “But why Ciara trying to fight Rihanna tho? Men aint supposed to hit women….”

Mos Def: “Ya’ll see Rihanna and Ciara twitters? They’re fighting, my question is how the hell did they get WiFi in the kitchen?”

Twitter: Destroying the recording industry one career at a time…

Hot on the heels of rampant reports that her flopped Basic Instinct disc got former R&B darling Ciara booted from the Jive Records roster, the “Goodies” singer has “One-Two-Stepped” forward with a rebuttal to those reports via a statement to fans uploaded to her Facebook page late Monday.

In the testimonial, Ciara blasts Jive for failing to financial back her career as she struggled to release the long-stalled Basic Instinct project. According to CiCi, she even had to pay for the music video that accompanied her “Gimme Dat” single. She goes on to insist that she has now personally asked to be freed from her contract with Jive so that she can go on with

“This week the net has been a buzz of the rumor that I have been dropped from my label. At this point that rumor is false… It is true that I have asked and I pray that my label will release me… The past two albums have been very frustrating for me,” Ciara writes. “At times there were songs I chose to lead a project and I was ignored! This project, I even tried to get Gimmie Dat started. I spent tens of thousands of my own money only to hear the radio PDs tell me my label didn’t want the song played. I even spent more than one hundred thousand dollars out of my pocket on the video to bring my vision to it and still no label support. I do understand that some labels are not financially supporting their artists and I have become one of them.”

In conclusion, she continued: “I have so much of me as a artist I still want to give to the world and my fans. A release would allow me to go be creative with people who care and understand me as a artist. In a short time, I will be able to bring to you a new music energy and a visual excitement! Thank you so much for standing by me through the good, bad, and the confusion. I love you all…”

Well — it’s safe to say that the long-rumored fling between 50 Cent and Ciara is officially a wrap.

The two prompted dating whispers when they collaborated on the single “Can’t Leave ‘Em” back in 2007, but 50 and Ciara engaged in a fiery exchange on Twitter over the weekend — which ended with 50 calling CiCi a “bitch.” Aww snap! Those are fighting words!

It all started when the rapper logged on to the microblogging website after a party at Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Mansion on Friday night: “I just left the play boy mansion. I think I want to be a pimp now. Sh*t I have strong pimp qualities. Lol… I’m looking for girls to start my new line of work. Are there any strong potential hoe’s on tweeter right now. Lol,” 50 joked.

“The things people tweet say a lot about their character, pay attention!” Ciara Tweeted.

That remark prompted 50 to fire back with: “Yea I tweet things that reflect my character bitch. I have a sense of humor get one.lol that’s why your 3 mill followers behind me.”

50 later appeared to try to calm down the spat, writing: “Ciara now I’m not going back n forth with you on twitter now cut it out.”

This may not be the best time to tip-toe on 50′s bad side. E! late night host Chelsea Handler left 50 Cent “heartbroken” when she ended their relationship before the New Year, according to Us Weekly. The acid-tongued comic reportedly dated the bad boy rapper, also 35, for a few months before dumping him in favor of new hotelier beau Andre Balazs

“50 Cent spent Christmas sending her gifts, but she sent them back. She put a note on one that said, ‘I can buy my own gifts,’” says a tabloid snitch.

This time around, Ciara brought back the writing/producing duo Terius “The-Dream” Nash and Christopher “Tricky” Stewart, who worked with her Fantasy Ride to put together the majority of the album. Together they have created what could very well be the star’s best and most consistent release yet.

Ciara is featured in the October 2010 issue of Maxim Magazine, where she discusses her eagerly-awaited fourth album — Basic Instinct — and shows off that toned dancer’s body we’re all so envious of.

“I mean, like every girl out there, we want a guy who’s comfortable in his own skin, who lets us grow, and who challenges us. But when it comes to superficial stuff, I mean who doesn’t like a good, hard body? You don’t have to be all crazy, just in shape. And have a neck, please!”

Ciara is pulling out all the stops to ensure that her upcoming fourth album, Basic Instinct, flies off shelves once it hits retailers Aug. 17. Will fans and frenemies buzzing that this may be her “Do or Die” effort, Ciara went back to her dance roots in this new song, entitled “Gimme Dat.”

Rock It or Drop It?

A backlash over some candid remarks about friend and colleague Ciara has prompted The-Dream to delete his account on Twitter. In a recent interview with Parlour Magazine, the Grammy-winning MC said that Ciara is running out of chances for major success and one more flopped could be the final nail in the coffin of a career that’s seen better days.

Her fourth album Basic Instinct is set for release on Aug. 24.

“You only get so many times to, and I won’t say fail, but not achieve,” Dream told Parlour. “There’s an expectation of where Ciara should be in her career. To others, she’s achieved but not to us, because we saw where her career was headed. But now she’s back on the horse. When she first came out I, like Lil Jon and Jazze Pha, understood exactly who she was.”

That’s interesting, considering Mr. Nash himself produced much of the album. The remarks went down like acid for Ci-Ci’s fan; who used the power of social networking to bitterly blast The-Dream via his Twitter page.

“It’s sad how we take things out of context . . . And if I said it’s Ciara’s last chance it’s because we all — me, [Tricky Stewart], and C beloved — our backs are against the wall . . . Look up the word context,” he fired back. “And also become familiar with the phrase ‘taken out of context’ it helps . . . I believed in Ciara when every1 else walked away & talked s— I love her that’s my sister! Actions speak louder than words.”
