Rihanna’s returning to the stage.

The “Umbrella” hitmaker will perform live at a show in an undisclosed in the United Arab Emirates May 28. The public performance will be Rihanna’s first since she “allegedly” assaulted by boyfriend Chris Brown during a dispute last February.

“It will be the best concert the region has ever seen and we will stop at nothing,” says Yassin Matbouly, managing director. “She didn’t used to be famous, or is going to be famous — she is famous, right now,” he emphasised. “She is incredible and she wants to come to the Middle East for the people of the whole region, not just the UAE.”

The lineup has been announced for the 2009 Essence Music Festival. Look for stars like Beyonce, Robin Thicke, Lionel Richie, and John Legend are just a few of the artists who have now been confirmed for this year’s festival, which will take place in New Orleans July 3-5.

Check out the costumes designer Thierry Mugler created for Beyonce’s world tour, which kicks off in Edmonton, Canada on Thursday.

“Sasha Fierce is another aspect of Beyoncé’s personality. She is Fierce on stage and Beyoncé in real life. I tried to understand these two sides with my own perception of both aspects,” Thierry tells WWD.

Ciara will be the opening act when Britney Spears’ “Circus Tour” arrives in Europe later this year.

Jennifer Hudson and Robin Thicke will co-headline a multi-city tour, with stops in cities like New York, Atlanta, Chicago and Los Angeles, beginning next month.

The Grammy-winning R&B stars will kick off their six-week joint tour at Albany’s Palace Theater on March 31.

Rihanna’s scheduled concert in Malaysia this week has been cancelled following reports that the singer was attacked by boyfriend Chris Brown last weekend.

According to reps for the star, her February 13 show will be postponed to an unspecified date “in light of recent events involving Rihanna.”
