Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds have released a statement confirming their split.

“After much consideration and discussion, we have jointly decided that we will forgo having a legal ceremony as it is not necessary to define our relationship further,” the statement reads. “While the recent symbolic union in Bora Bora was representative of our deep love, friendship and respect that we have for one another on a spiritual level, we have decided to remain friends.”

Just two weeks after their wedding, Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds have split, People Magazine confirms. The couple unofficially tied the knot on New Year’s Day on a private island near Bora Bora in French Polynesia. The wedding ceremony was a spiritual ceremony and the couple planned on having a legally binding ceremony upon returning to the U.S. However, since that ceremony never took place the couple was never official married to begin with. Eddie and Tracey had been dating since June 2006.

Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds were married in Bora Bora on New Year’s Day, but the marriage is likely to be invalid, the New York Post reports.

Tracey Edmonds and Eddie Murphy will reportedly tie the knot in Tahiti this weekend of 2007. E! claims guest and members of the wedding party are expected to arrive in Tahiti sometime today. “It’s a small, private affair,” the source says. “The bridesmaid dresses are all custom from somewhere in Beverly Hills. They just had their final fittings.”

Eddie Murphy is denying reports that he has signed Karrine ‘Supersucker’ Steffans to a newly formed record label. In fact, the Academy Award nominated actor claims he isn’t forming a new label at all:

“In regard to recent reports that Eddie Murphy has formed a record label, it should be known for the record that Mr. Murphy has not formed a record label of any sort, nor is he interested in doing so,” according to a statement from his rep.
