Eminem has been crowned the new “King Of Hip-Hop” by Rolling Stone Magazine — beating out heavyweights like Kanye West and Jay-Z for the honor.

Eminem narrowly beat Lil’ Wayne and Drake for the top spot — with Kanye and Jay-Z roundiung out the Top 5. The Music Bible remarked that Eminem’s position in the ranking is bolstered by his epic comeback was.

“Sure, if we’d done a similar three-year survey of rappers back in 2002 or 2005, Eminem would have won, probably,” read the article accompanying the list. “But as recently as three years ago, Eminem winning a survey like this was unthinkable; his nearly half-decade hiatus from recording made any comeback unlikely, let alone one in which he took back the charts as if he’d never left.”

Badass rap babe Nicki Minaj was a surprise appearance on the list at No. 6, with the magazine saying they “like to think of ‘King’ as a gender-neutral term.”

Eminem has just become the first artist to sell 1 million digital copies in the US of an album — thanks to his 2010 release Recovery.

Em’s latest record-setting career milestone comes just one week after the artist landed at No. 1 on the Billboard Rap Chart with Hell: The Sequel, the release from Bad Meets Evil, the duo formed by Eminem and fellow Detroit native Royce Da 5’9. This marks the first time in the last five years an artist has scored two No. 1 albums within a 12-month period.

Here’s another Grammy pairing to watch for on Sunday: Eminem and Dr. Dre, who will be making his first live television performance in more than a decade.

“I took meetings with Marshall’s producing partners over the past seven years, looking for something to do together,” Sutter told Deadline Hollywood Tuesday. “I know he’s very selective and doesn’t do a lot. But he shared so much of his personal struggle in this raw and very honest album, one that I connected with on a lot of levels. He is very interested in the boxing genre, and it seemed like an apt metaphor, because his own life has been a brawl. In a way, this is a continuation of the ’8 Mile’ story, but rather than a literal biography, we are doing a metaphorical narrative of the second chapter of his life,” Sutter continued. “At its core, this is a retelling of his struggles over the last five years of his life, using the boxing analogy.”

Explaining the title of the movie, which is slang term for a left handed fighter, Kurt admitted he drew parallels with Eminem’s career as a rap outsider.

“I love that the title refers to Marshall being a lefty, which is to boxing what a White rapper is to hip hop; dangerous, unwanted and completely unorthodox. It’s a much harder road for a southpaw than a right handed boxer.”

Em has not appeared in a film since 2002′s 8 Mile.

Eminem will be in the hot seat on this week’s installment of the longrunning CBS newsmagazine 60 Minutes. Silver-haired correspondent Anderson Cooper will interview the “Slim Shady” superstar about everything from not allowing profanity in his house to words that rhyme with “orange.”

Eminem will take center stage at this weekend’s MTV Video Music Awards.

The rapper — who is nominated for eight trophies — will open Sunday’s ceremony at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

The gig comes on the heels of a whirlwind summer for Em, whose hit album Recovery achieved platinum status and spawned the smash track “Love the Way You Lie.”
