What could be better than hip-hop heavyweight Jay-Z hitting the stage in his first concert at the new Yankees Stadium? How about being joined by equally-impressive lyricist Eminem?
The hip-hop titans will play the first concert at the new Yankee Stadium, in Jay’s native New York, on Sept. 13. The stars also revealed that 11 days earlier, on Sept. 2, Hov will join Eminem at his hometown ball park, Comerica, for a live show in Detroit.
Eminem and Jay-Z attended the New York-Detroit game at Comerica Park this week to announce the news.
Eminem has scrapped plans to drop his eagerly-awaited Relapse 2 LP and will instead be releasing a brand new album, titled Recovery, early this summer.
The disc, the award-winning emcee’s seventh major label studio album, will arrive on June 22 and feature collaborations with artists such as DJ Khalil, Just Blaze, Jim Jonsin, and Boi-1da.
Here’s his statement:
“I had originally planned for Relapse 2 to come out last year, but as I kept recording and working with new producers, the idea of a sequel to Relapse started to make less and less sense to me, and I wanted to make a completely new album. The music on Recovery came out very different from Relapse, and I think it deserves its own title.”

Eminem has scored the coveted position of top-selling artist of the decade, moving 32.2 million copies of his controversial albums between Jan. 2000 and Nov. 1, 2009, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Em’s overall album sales can be largely attributed to both 2000′s The Marshall Mathers LP and 2002′s The Eminem Show.
Sorry, Slim Shady fans: You’ll have to wait a little longer for Eminem’s next album -the release of the rapper’s Relapse 2 has been postponed until 2010.
The star returned to the hip hop scene this year promising two comeback discs, Relapse and Relapse 2 after a more than four year absence.
The first installment debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard Top 200 chart when it was released in May. Relapse 2 had been set to drop later in the year – but will now be released in 2010. Instead, Eminem is re-releasing his charttoper Relapse just in time for Christmas. A revamped version of the album will debut Dec. 21, featuring seven bonus tracks.
Eminem is set to star in a 3D hip-hop horror movie, according to Hollywood trade paper Screen International.
The acclaimed rapper will also produce Shady Talez, a horror anthology cross between Creep Show and The Twilight Zone, that will feature three stories offering a hip-hop spin to classic horror films. The frightfest will be Eminem’s first big-screen appearance since his role in the 2002 box office hit 8 Mile.
The film will be accompanied by a four-issue Shady Talez comic book series, due out in 2010.
Eminem will perform at the American Music Awards later this month, Entertainment Weekly has learned. The American Music Awards will air live from the NOKIA Theatre L.A. Live on Sunday, Nov. 22 @ 8 p.m. on ABC.
