Fantasia later had an abortion — but not before she attempted suicide and was sued for “Alienation of Affection” by Cook’s ex-wife, Paula, who claimed Barrino aided in the destruction of her marriage.

The Fantasia: For Real star, who is about three months along, is already the mother of a nine-year-old daughter, Zion.

Aretha tells Fanny: “Girl, sit’cho ass down!” Former adultress Fantasia Barrino became a Trending Topic on the blogosphere last week after she confessed that she boycotted the 2011 Grammy Awards — and missed an opportunity to accept her first gong after 11 failed nominations — all because show organizers left her off the bill for the opening performance, a tribute to Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin, featuring Jennifer Hudson, Yolanda Adams, Florence Welch, Martina McBride, and Christina Aguilera.

“I’m going to be very honest with you. You know I wasn’t at the Grammys last night. I’m kind of going through my own thing… Last night they were honoring someone who is my idol, Aretha Franklin, and there is no way I could have sat there and not got the happy feet and wanting to jump on the mic because she is my favorite so I felt like, you know, at the end of the day I should have been on that stage. I have this feeling, like every year I go, I feel like they always look over some of the good singers that are still around. I’m not trying to be funny, but that’s just the way I felt,” Barrino said.

After learning of Fantasia’s perceived slight, Aretha, who collaborated with the former American Idol on the 2007 tune “Let Me Put You Up on Game,” issued a statement, outlying her feelings on the subject. Famed for an ego that is at times as large as her powerhouse voice, Aretha has a word of advice for Fanny: “There’s no whining in singing!”

The “Chain of Fools” singer writes: “I was sorry to hear that Fantasia was upset because she did not get the opportunity to participate in my Grammy Tribute this year. I recall that in the past, Fantasia participated in both my MusicCares Person of the Year Tribute and my United Negro College Fund Tribute. Fantasia is still young in the business and although we all love and appreciate her she must understand that in this business of show business she will not always get to participate in everything she would like participate in. I’m sure it was not an intentional omission. I will see Fantasia over the summer here in Detroit.”

Did you know that after 11 nods, former American Idol Fantasia Barrino finally won her first Grammy Award over the weekend? Did you also know that the singer — who spent much of last year scandal-plagued and cash-strapped — wasn’t on tap to accept the prize for Best Female Vocal peformance for “Bittersweet” because she wasn’t invited to participate in the Aretha Franklin tribute. Vocalists Florence Welch, Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Jennifer Hudson, and Christina Aguilera were tapped to pay tribute to the ailing Queen of Soul as an opening performance at Sunday’s ceremony. Leaving Fanny fuming.

After all, when she was competing for the title of American Idol in 2004, Barrino’s spirited performance of Franklin’s “Chain of Fools” secured her a place in the finals.

Is an Oscar on the horizon for troubled former American Idol champ Fantasia Barrino?

The Grammy-nominated “Truth Is” singer — who was at the center of a sex scandal that prompted a suicide attempt last August — has been tipped to play gospel great Mahalia Jackson in a forthcoming film biography, The Hollywood Reporter said Wednesday.

Barrino, 26, will portray singer and civil rights icon from her impoverished childhood in early 20th century New Orleans to her days as The Queen of Gospel, one of the most respected singers in the the nation. Mahalia, an ardent supporter of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., passed away in 1982 at the age of 60.

The role will be Fantasia’s since she starred in Oprah Winfrey’s Broadway revival of The Color Purple in 2006.

Her public image remains in tatters, but former American Idol Fantasia Barrino just dodged a major legal bullet.

The “Truth Is” singer will not face a suit on Alienation of Affection,” according to the judge presiding over the divorce of the songbird’s former flame. This week, a North Carolina jurist ruled that Antwaun Cook was separated from his wife Paula before he and Fantasia began dating in th Summer of 2009. The ruling means the soon-to-be ex Mrs. Cook can not go after what’s left of Fanny’s millions per a vintage Southern law that permits jilted spouses to sue their husband or wife’s lover.

The court found The Cooks, who have two children, separated in Sept. 2009, not June, 2010, as Paula had claimed, insiders tell RadarOnline.com.

Last month, Fanny took the stand in the case and admitted that she knew Antwaun was married when she started dating the T-Mobile salesman. The single mother, 26, also confessed to tattooing Cook’s name on her chest and having an abortion shortly before her highly-publicized suicide attempt last August.

On Monday, the divorce trial between Paula Cook and Antwaun Cook — the North Carolina cellphone salesman romantically-linked to singing star Fantasia — took an explosive turn when the former American Idol took the stand and confessed that her affair with Antwaun resulted in an unplanned pregnancy and a subsequent abortion.

You may recall that Fantasia, who carried on an affair with the still-married Antwaun over the last year — is now facing a potential “alienation of affection” lawsuit from the man’s estranged wife. The old North Carolina law allows a jilted lover to sue their spouse’s sidepiece for helping destroy the marriage. And Paula’s legal team didn’t hold back upon getting Fantasia on the stand during this week’s hearng.

After a dogged pursuit by attorneys, Fantasia revealed that she dated Antwaun “off and on for about 11 months” during which time she believed that he and Paula were legally-separated. The former teen mom then revealed that she found herself pregnant by Antwaun sometime last summer and had an abortion around the time that she tried to overdose on over-the-counter drugs in August.

Fantasia’s going on tour with a “Real Housewife.”

The troubled former American Idol is hitting the road on her Back to Me Tour, a cross-country trek supporting her new album of the same name. Fanny will be joined by opening acts Eric Benét, three-time Grammy nominee, and Grammy-winning singer/songwriter/producer Kandi Burruss — who just happens to be the star of Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta.

The 30-city road show starts Nov. 4 in Richmond, Va. and will end with Fantasia ringing in 2011 in St. Louis Jan. 1.

“I’m so excited about this tour and having the chance to connect with my fans, the people that love me and have been supporting me through everything,” Fantasia remarked in a press release issued Tuesday. “This tour is going to be a real special, intimate experience for them and for me.”

Ring Da Alarm and Call The Maury Show, Word on the Curb has it that troubled former American Idol Fantasia Barrino is pregnant with her second child — and married boyfriend Antwaun Cook is the lucky papa!

A family “friend” dished the deets on the impromptu baby bombshell on the pages of the Sept. 6 edition of The National Enquirer.

“Fantasia is a master manipulator…She’s about three months along, and it’s definitely Antwaun’s baby. Right now she can’t show how happy she is in public — but she’s absolutely thrilled. Fantasia got what she wanted. She feels Antwaun will have to marry her now…She’s very pleased with herself,” says the mole.

And Fanny’s suicide attempt with a concoction of aspirin and sleeping pills? Well, The Enquirer says it was all part of a giant ploy to snatch Antwaun from the clutches of his estranged wife Paula, who insists Fantasia began bedding her man in Aug. 2009, when the T-Mobile salesman was still very much a family man.

“She took the pills, but she knows what she was doing,” blabs the snitch, who says Fantasia prefers dating married men because they are “safe” and don’t require a commitment. “Fantasia had no intention of taking her life. I think it was just a plot she cooked up to push Antwaun’s buttons. And it worked…When Paula finds out Fantasia is pregnant and Antwaun is the father, she’s going to flip.”
