Walter Hawkins, a Grammy Award-winning gospel singer, composer, and pastor, has died.

The sanctified crooner — a native of Oakland — died Sunday at his home in Ripon, California. He was 61.
Hawkins’ grief-stricken family says the singing star had been battling inoperable pancreatic cancer for more than two years.
