Former hip-hop jeweler was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison on Tuesday. Dubbed Jacob The Jeweler, Jacob Arabov, 43, pleaded guilty in October to falsifying records and giving false statements as part of a plea deal with federal prosecutors.
New York Governor David Paterson has granted a full and unconditional pardon to 80s-era rap legend Slick Rick for the attempted murders of two men in 1991. Gov. Paterson says he was compiled to pardon Rick, who is now a landlord in the Bronx, after learning that the “Children’s Story” rapper has remained on the “straight and narrow” since his release from prison in 1997. Slick Rick has volunteered to counsel youths against violence.

Prosecutors are asking that actor Wesley Snipes serve the maximum sentence of three years in federal prison and pay a $5 million fine after being convicted in February for willful failure to tax file returns. Florida U.S. Attorney Robert O’Neill says Snipes deserved the full sentence due to his years of “brazen defiance” and “insidious concealment.”
