Chaka Demus and Pliers, the reggae act best known for their 1993 party-starter “Murder She Wrote,” are suing the world’s largest record label for more than $10 million in unpaid royalties and trademark infringement.
Stick a fork in ‘em! Kanye West and his model-girlfriend Amber Rose are done — a least for now. Tabloid snitches claim Yeezy and his bald bombshell have had a temporary parting of the ways.
“They are still good friends,” says a source close to the rapper, 33. “Kanye is consumed with recording his comeback record in Hawaii and had to shut it all off. When he’s in work mode, he can’t handle a relationship. He told Amber he needs to devote everything right now to his craft.”
Kim Kardashian fans were seeing double at New York’s Madame Tussauds Museum Thursday as the buxom reality star arrived to unveil her new waxwork.
At times, the Madame Tussauds wax figures can look far too plasticky and fake to pass for the actual celebrity they’re patterned after, but when they’re modeled after someone who’s actually kind of plasticky and fake in real life, the likeness can be uncanny.
See, even Kim agrees: “It is amazing, it’s seriously a dream come true, just to even be at this museum amongst all these amazing people. When I saw her for the first time, it’s pretty surreal,” the 29-year-old model and businesswoman during yesterday’s unveiling.
To ensure the best likeness, Kim spent time with the museum’s artists, who took hundred of precise measurements and photos.
We wonder who those hating ass crabs are of whom Diddy speaks? Could it be 50 Cent, who has spent the better part of a week shooting disses at the Bad Boy chief?
Drake made headlines earlier this month when he publicly revealed his disappointment over the abrupt end to his relationship with pop superstar Rihanna. The Bajan Mama allegedly dropped Drake like a sack of potatoes after the pair romanced one another in 2009. Despite any sour grapes the two may have share, Rihanna counts the Pride of Toronto a formidable artist.
“Right now I’m listening to Drake, Jay-Z, Kings of Leon, Ke$ha,” she told E! News while in Israel this week. When the interviewer asked about a possible collaboration with Drake, Rihanna replied: “I hope so ‘cause he’s really, really talented, and I think he’s one of the illest lyricists out there right now, so I would love to work with him.”
The star is currently dating baseball ace Matt Kemp.
From Kirk Franklin to Mary Mary, over the years the recording industry has bare witness to the ways that Black churches have used music to make the gospel palatable to the youth. The latest addition to the list is Big Show and his “Do The Church Dance” video, which was originally released last year.
We’re not sure whether to pat our feet or douse these people with Holy Water. Watch Big Show and his crew twerk it for The Man Upstairs!
Ladies and Gents, Brace Yourselves for “The Gospel According to Slim Thug.” The Houston-bred emcee — who once dated and dumped ex-Destiny’s Child star LeToya Luckett — has eloquently shared his thoughts on the differences between Black women and White women in relationships and broken down why he believes a substantial number of successful woman of color are supposedly single.
According to Slim, Black women need to lower their standards and be more willing to “work with” potential suitors — even if said eligible brother is an unemployed father of six, the weed pusher in Apartment 5G, or the filthy wino who sleeps in a crate down the street.
The man accused of murdering Atlanta-based rapper Dolla in suburban Beverly Hills last year was acquitted on homicide charges Friday.
Music promoter Aubrey Louis Berry was found not guilty of first degree murder and all other charges stemming from the May 18, 2009, shooting in which the rising hip-hopster Roderick Anthony Burton II, aka Dolla, was gunned down in the valet area of the Beverly Center.
The Akon protege allegedly got into an altercation with Berry and a woman before he was shot four times — three times in the back and once in his bicep. Berry was later aprehended trying to board a plane at LAX and was charged with murder and two counts of assault.
Berry pleaded not guilty to all charges and testified last week that he acted in self defense. He claims Dolla threatened to kill him and that he believed he had a gun.
Berry hugged his attorney after the verdict was read while Burton’s family sobbed.
