Janet Jackson says her entire family recognized her brother Michael had a drug problem, and tried to help, but she insists the King of Pop wasn’t ready to acknowledge he had a problem.
“You can’t make ‘em drink the water,” Jackson tells ABC News in an interview airing Wednesday.
Michael Jackson passed away June 25 after a powerful overdose of the prescription drug Propofol.

We’re thrilled about having Janet Jackson open this year’s show,” American Music Awards producer Larry Klein said in a statement Thursday. “She is an incredibly dynamic performer and I think the audience will be excited to see what she has in store.”
This will mark the fourth time Janet — who will release a new Greatest Hits Compilation later this month — has performed on the American Music Awards, having previously performed “Control” in 1987, “Escapade” in 1990, and “Together Again” in 1998.
The 2009 American Music Awards airs Sunday, Nov. 22 @ 8PM on ABC.
Janet Jackson “In The Spotlight With Robin Roberts” Nov. 18
Janet Jackson will open up to ABC’s Robin Roberts in her first TV interview since the death of her brother.
The “Control” star is expected to share memories of her older brother– who died of an overdose last June — for “In the Spotlight With Robin Roberts: Janet Jackson.”
The interview will air Nov. 18 @ 10 PM on ABC, and marks the first time Janet has allowed cameras into her Malibu mansion.

Amazon.com has unveiled the cover art for Janet’s upcoming greatest hits album, Number Ones.
The picture of Janet was taken from a 2001 photo shoot for the tour book of the “All For You Tour.”
Number Ones drops Nov. 17.
Janet Jackson Greatest Hits “Number Ones” Available Nov. 17
Janet Jackson will duet with her late brother Michael on her new Greatest Hits collection. The compilation disc, called Number Ones, features 33 classic Jackson hits and her latest single, “Make Me.”

Number Ones spans nearly all of Janet’s groundbreaking recording career, from her 1986 breakout album, Control to 2008’s Discipline. The two-disc album will be released Nov. 17. Janet’s last greatest hits album, Design of a Decade, was released in 1996.

A montage of the star’s songs and videos played, including “Thriller,” “Bad,” “Smooth Criminal” and finally, “Scream,” the duet that won Michael and Janet a VMA in 1995.
Janet Jackson On The Death Of Michael Jackson Harper’s Bazaar
Janet Jackson is speaking out in her first interview since the death of her older brother, pop legend Michael Jackson.
Janet tells Harper’s Bazaar Magazine that she hasn’t watched television since learning of Michael’s death of an overdose on June 25. At times, the star still struggles with the concept that her brother is gone, at one point in the interview, Janet refers to Michael in the present tense, saying, “My brother is, I mean was…..You have to forgive me, because it’s really hard to believe he’s passed.”
