Janet Jackson’s upcoming world tour is already proving to be a hit with the diva’s fans Stateside.

Tickets for Janet’s April 14 concert at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles sold out just 10 minutes after tickets went on sale on Friday morning .

A spokesman for Live Nation tells the Los Angeles Times they had to add another date for April 15 just to keep up with demand.

Janet’s Number Ones: Up Close and Personal World Tour promises to treat fans to a lengthy set of every one of the singing star’s Top 10 hits. The global trek is Janet’s first since 2008′s Rock Witchu Tour, which was marred by several problems, including poor ticket sales.

“These concerts will be different from anything I have ever done. I will be as up close and personal as possible. These concerts are not about special effects,” Janet said in a statement earlier this month. “This is a love affair between me and those of you who have supported me and my work for all these years. I’ll be singing and dancing from my heart. The music will all be songs that you’ve made number ones for me. Let’s go!”

Tis the season for giving, and R&B legend Janet Jackson is giving back in a big way after teaming up with toy manufacturer Mattel to hawk a one-of-a-kind Barbie doll for a charity auction benefitting Project Angel Food — a Meals-on-Wheels-like organization that delivers meals to families affected by HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other life-threatening illnesses in the Greater Los Angeles area.

The collector’s edition Divinely Janet Doll comes accompanied with a Certificate of Authenticity and a unique display case.

“Inspired by the ultra-glam black gown she wore during her 2010 American Idol performance, I knew we had to recreate that look for her one of a kind doll,” says Mattel Designer Jackeline Gonzalez, who crafted the Janet Barbie. “Look closely dolls, Janet’s sassy, short hairstyle, unique face and body sculpt and face painting all meticulously duplicate the legendary singer’s features.”

Gonzalez “duplicated the black gown, including the body-hugging cat-suit underneath that she revealed during her second, upbeat performance. Her gown is kissed with bling created by countless hand-placed Swarovski crystals. Even her mic is crystal-studded.”

Boasting an ensemble cast that features Whoopi Goldberg, Loretta Devine, and Kerry Washington, Janet dropped by Good Morning America Monday, where she chatted about her role in the hotly-anticipated feature. During the interview, Janet explained how she first learned of about the stunning theater piece by Ntozake Shange when she was visiting brother Michael for her role as “Scarecrow” in the ’70s classic The Wiz. Ms. Jackson If You’re Nasty dismissed reports that she is engaged to her Arab businessman boyfriend Wissam Al-Mana.

“He’s a very, very private man so I don’t talk about our relationship but I really think it’s important that I just say this: they’ve (the press) been trying to marry me off for a very, very long time. But I’m not engaged so I will say that…”

The fur is flying over Janet Jackson’s new controversial ad campaign for a fur label.

Shortly after the singer signed on to be the new face of Blackglama’s “What Becomes a Legend Most” campaign, animal rights activists — particularly those with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals — blasted her decision to hawk the fur label.

Now longtime animal-lover Pamela Anderson has spoken out about her displeasure in Jackson’s campaign.

“It’s disappointing. She has spoken out against fur before. I don’t know why some people stop listening to their heart. I guess some people get greedy, but it’s sad,” the PETA loyalist and former Baywatch babe told OUT Magazine this week.

“Miss Jackson If You’re Nasty” is set to headline the Essence Music Festival on July 2.

Fans got a good look at the new slicked-back Janet’s debuted in London last week when “Ms. Jackson If You’re Nasty” performed a medley of her hits during the American Idol Season 9 finale on FOX Wednesday night.

The departure of Simon Cowell come along with one of the biggest upsets in Idol history as paint shop employee Lee DeWyze beat out dreadlocked soul star Crystal Bowersox for the coveted top prize.

The “Nasty” singer will make her festival debut as the third and final headliner at the annual festival — dubbed as a weekend-long celebration of music, culture, and community — this Fourth of July weekend (July 2, 3, and 4) in the Big Easy.

“This year’s Essence Music Festival line-up is headed up by three of the most talented and powerful women in music today,” Michelle Ebanks, president, Essence Communications Inc., said in a statement Tuesday. “With the return of both Mary J. Blige and Alicia Keys, and the first-ever performance from Janet Jackson, I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Essence’s 40th anniversary.”
