Jay-Z will commemorate the eighth anniversary of the Sept.11 terrorist attacks by performing at Madison Square Garden in New York City
The date also coincides with the release of his new album The Blueprint 3.
The benefit concert will raise money for The New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund, a charity created to support the families of police officers and firefighters who have died in the line of duty, The New York Times reports.
Jay-Z — whose single “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)” is nominated for Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Male Video at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards — will perform a song from his eagerly-awaited album, The Blueprint 3 at the live ceremony in New York City September 12.

The acclaimed rapper is set to pen an autobiography in which he will open up about his life with wife Beyonce Knowles, despite their pact to never speak publicly about their relationship.
“It’s going to cover everything from his days on the streets as a drug dealer to his fairytale wedding to Beyonce,” a source told Britain’s Daily Mirror Wednesday.
