Kanye West, Common, Method Man and Redman, and their respective Universal Music Group labels, were sued on Thursday by the daughter of Joe Farrell for sampling the late jazz musician’s work without a clearance.
Diddy has seen Kanye in concert-and it has “changed his life.” The hip-hop mogul peeped Kanye West’s Glow In The Dark concert when the innovative tour, featuring N.E.R.D and Rihanna, made a splash at Manhattan’s Madison Square Garden recently.
In a YouTube vlog confession, Diddy says: “The other night, I go to the Kanye West concert … I have nothing but high expectations. Concert changed my life. I ain’t gonna lie. I was so impressed and inspired. It was beautiful, man, and I fell in love with hip-hop again. I want to say thank you, Kanye, for giving me that.”
Maryland-based songwriter/producer Dayna ‘D’Mystro’ Staggs is suing Kanye West for copyright infringement over his T-Pain-assisted hit track “Good Life.” Staggs claims Kanye”didn’t obtain a licence” to sample his record Volume of Good Life for the track. The Plaintiff goes on to state that West was “only at the age of six or seven years of age (sic)” when his song was written. Staggs objects to the “vulgar and offensive” images associated with the song, , claiming it “harms the reputation” of his inoffensive tune. Staggs is demanding eighty-five percent of all world sales of the proceeds from “Good Life.”
In an uncharacteristic act of maturity, Kanye West has defended Spanish fashion house Balenciaga for denying him a seat at its exclusive Paris Fashion Week showing last week. Kanye was denied entry to the show after designers blasted his image as being “too hip-hop.” Read the rest of this entry »
California Assemblywoman Amina Carter is sponsoring new legislation, inspired by the death of Dr. Donda West, that would require all patients receiving elective plastic surgery to receive clearance from a licensed doctor.
