For someone who pockets more than twenty sacks a month just for being the former Mrs. Nasir Jones, “Milkshake” hitmaker Kelis sure has a tough time keeping up with her bills.

A housekeeper recently employed by Kelis claims the R&B singer owes her $900 in unpaid wages – but she’s having a problem seeking repayment through the courts because she’s in the country illegally. According to TMZ, Kelis’ maid earned $150 a day for her work… and since she only worked one day a week, that means Kelis somehow fell six weeks behind on her payments. Though she’s an illegal alien, sources say the housekeeper is currently exploring her legal options and actively trying to obtain a lawyer who will help her file a claim through the California Labor Commission.

The Harlem native — whose real name is Kelis Rogers — also owes debt to a company who worked production for her commercially-panned 2010 dance album Flesh Tone and a Los Angeles hair stylist, who claims the singer failed to foot the bill for pricey hair extensions she had installed last summer.

Meanwhie, Kelis’ rapper ex-husband Nas has been ordered to pay her over $25,000 a month in child and spousal support.

Nas will soon have a little more spending cash at his disposal. According to TMZ, the “Ether” rapper’s bid to have his spousal and child support payments to ex-wife Kelis reduced by half has been successful.

In Dec. 2009, Nas was ordered to fork over $51,000 for monthly child and spousal payments – a total of over $600,000 a year. The figure was bumped up from a court-mandated amount of $40,000 per month in July 2009 after the rapper and the “Milkshake” hitmaker announced their split after four years of marriage in April of that year.

Nas — who claims the global economic downturn is affecting his ability to earn enough money to fulfill the original obligation — is now required to pay Kelis $20,000 in monthly spousal support and just over $5,000 in child support every month.

You’d think that after taking Hip-Hop God Nas to the cleaners in their divorce settlement outre singing star Kelis would have no trouble paying her own bills.

And you’d be wrong.

The “Acapella” songbird has been slapped with a lawsuit from the bosses of a talent agency amid allegations she failed to pay for services used during the promo tour for her critically-panned and commercially-unsuccessful LP, Flesh Tone.

The “Milkshake” singer and her management hired staff at Drive Talent Inc. to provide “goods and services” for a variety of performances on TV shows between March and July of 2010, including appearances on The TODAY Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, All Hip-Hop said Tuesday.

Despite their hard work, Drive says Kelis and her team have snubbed them on a $11,817.91 bill for services. The company filed suit in Supreme Court of the State of New York last week seeking the outstanding debt in full.

Kelis’ publicists insist the star is not worried about the claim, because Drive Talent executives spent the money without asking her or her managers for permission.

“Drive Talent has been paid in full for services rendered for the assistance in production for various TV performances. Any claims stating otherwise is clearly an effort to gain press attention,” read a statement from the rep issued Tuesday.

“The amount claimed to be owed is not for services rendered, which Drive Talent would like the public to believe, but over a dispute stemming from a European promotional run in which Drive Talent authorized the spend of close to $11,800 of the artist’s money to a vendor they hired without approval from either the artist or management. We look forward to presenting our case in court and are confident once a review has been made of all evidence we have to support our argument that it will be clear Drive Talent has absolutely no ground whatsoever to stand on.”

Earlier this year, the former Mrs. Nasir Jones was sued by a California hair gallery, who claimed that Kelis also failed to pay them for services rendered.

Kelis is less then a month away from releasing her upcoming album, Flesh Tone, dropping July 6. Her official second single is the DJ Ammo-produced “4th of July (Fireworks),” which was digitally released this week. The video will premiere worldwide next Wednesday, June 16 on VEVO & YouTube. Also be on the lookout for Kelis to perform the single for the first time live on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on June 18.

The twosome formerly known as Nas and Kelis have divorced.

Legal documents filed at Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday, May 21 reveal the “Milkshake” star’s marriage to the rap legend is now officially over. According to legal documents filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on May 21, Nas has been ordered to pay over $10,000 a month for child and spousal support.

The hip-hop supercouple married in 2005 and split in April, 2009 after four years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences, Kelis filed for divorce just months before she gave birth to the pair’s baby son Knight.

Although the exact reason for their marriage breakdown is not known, Kelis, 29, previously took to her Twitter page to blast married men who are unfaithful, in what was interpreted as a veiled swipe at Nas.

“No seriously I have no patience for any of it but the problem is women usually blame the women. I am here to say that the husband is way more at fault, now of course the woman/women who partake are stupid and pitiful. An honestly I will say its expected from younger girls 23 and under, but after that I do think we as women need to take more responsibility. Men are driven by something different then we are and that is generally stupidity, don’t worry we still love you guys. We just have to be smarter.”

The prolific MC was ordered last month to pay more than $87,000 in back child and spousal support, as well as $10,000 per month to Kelis — the mother of his infant son Knight.

In a new filing, obtained by TMZ.com, Nas’ attorney — Hollywood divorce lawyer to the stars Mark Kaplan — claims that the judge predicated the order on Nas making $152,031 a month, when in fact, he makes “substantially less than that amount.”

Kaplan is asking the judge to reconsider the amount of payments to make sure that it is proportional to Nas’ monthly income.
