Kelis is going to court to try to get her soon-to-be former husband, hip-hop star Nas, to foot the bill on child support expenses.

The “Milkshake” hitmaker is asking a Los Angeles judge to order the rapper to pay spousal support, child support, all pregnancy-related expenses, and one-half of all medical expenses once their son is born next month. According to TMZ.com, Kelis — who claims she is broke — also wants $3,500 for the baby nurse after the child’s birth, and $20,000 for strollers, cribs and other baby supplies.

Kelis says she became accustomed to a certain lifestyle while married to Nas, and her husband has an obligation to keep her draped in Gucci and Louis:

“There were many expensive pieces [of jewelry] such as a princess-cut diamond tennis bracelet that was recently appraised for $190,000,” Kelis wrote in her plea to the court. “My engagement ring is an approximately nine-carat cushion-cut diamond solitaire. I have numerous watches…such as Cartier, Rolex, Frank Muller and Chopard.”

“My survival is based on [Nas'] will at this time. If he does not want to pay for an expense, it does not get paid.”

Some women are so stupid. You should never allow yourself to become totally financially dependent on a man. When they move on to the next, they are taking their money with them. Keep a stash, ladies!

The expectant mother — who is in the beginning stages of a divorce battle with hip-hop star Nas — left several fans frightened after she launced a bizarre rant against cheaters — and the women who love them — in a series of Tweets on Thursday.

It was the second day of weird posts for the “Milkshake” star, who sprouted off a rant against “closeted gay men” on Wednesday.

Pregnant R&B singer Kelis celebrated pending motherhood with a baby shower in New York City at the weekend.

Surrounded by friends and family, the “Milkshake” hitmaker, who is expecting a son with estranged husband Nas, held a bash at the Big Apple’s Soho House on Saturday, according to The New York Post. A designer Louis Vuitton diaper bag were among the gifts received.

Kelis, who is due to give birth in July, filed for divorce from Nas in April, citing “irreconcilable differences” for the breakdown of their four year marriage.

Both stars are seeking joint legal and physical custody of their unborn son.

Hip-hop power couple Nas and Kelis are calling it quits. In a shocking turn of events, the accomplished rap star’s R&B-singing spouse filed for divorce in Superior Court of Los Angeles — Los Angeles County on Thursday. Kelis — who is pregnant with the couple’s first son — cited the ever-popular irreconciable differences as the reason for the split.

“I can confirm that she has filed for divorce,” a spokesperson for Kelis told VIBE. “We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time.”

According to VIBE, the “Milkshake” hitmaker has hired high-powered attorney Laura Wassar — who has represented celebs like Angelina Jolie and Britney Spears — to represent her in the divorce.

Kelis is requesting spousal and child support.

In an interview with MTV News, Nas offered no hints that the couple’s marriage was in trouble.

“She’s great man. She’s doing good,” he said of his pregnant wife

Nas, 35, first met 29-year-old Kelis at a MTV Video Music Awards afterparty thrown by hip hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs in 2002. The couple married in a ceremony in Atlanta on July 28, 2005 after two years of dating. Their son is due in July.

As you may recall, Nas and Kelis first became the subject of split rumors when a sex tape allegedly featuring the singer with another man was sent to The Wendy Williams Show.

Nas and Kelis are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their first son, and they want your help selecting the baby’s name.

“Yeah, [we are deciding between] a few baby names,” Nas said in an interview with MTV on Monday. “It’s kinda hard.”

“I’ve been thinking about kinda putting something online: ‘Choose his name,’” the father-to-be added with a smile. “You get a couple stacks for that. We take care of you for that. You win something real. But we’re thinking now.”

Kelis displayed her burgeoning baby bump for the first time while playing hostess at a birthday party for Damon Peruzzi’s on Sunday.
