Cirque du Soleil is developing a pair of touring stage shows based on the music of Michael Jackson, reps for the estate of the late “Thriller” star and the world-renowned acrobatic troupe said on Tuesday. A Jackson-themed nightclub in Las Vegas and a permanent Jackson-Cirque du Soleil show that will make its debut in the city in late 2012 are presently in the works.
The Brooklyn, NY subway station where Michael Jackson filmed his popular 1987 “Bad” music video is getting a makeover in honor of the King of Pop.
Following Jackson’s death in June, City Councilwoman Letitia James proposed legislation to rename the Hoyt-Schermerhorn Station after Jackson. Her efforts were shut down after MTA officials cited its policy of not naming stations after people.
The Village Voice is now reporting that the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership has found a way to pay tribute to MJ in spite of that restriction. A memorial mural is now set for the H-S station entrance. Benenson Capital, who owns the wall where the mural will be painted, will select the artist.
Michael Jackson’s personal physician has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the legendary entertainer’s death last summer.
Doctor Conrad Murray is accused of “unlawfully and without malice” giving Michael a lethal dose of the anesthetic propofol last June. The Houston-based cardiologist faces up to four years behind bars if found guilty.
Murray is expected to appear in court today where he will enter a not guilty plea and be released on bail.

Janet Jackson says her entire family recognized her brother Michael had a drug problem, and tried to help, but she insists the King of Pop wasn’t ready to acknowledge he had a problem.

The interview will air Nov. 18 @ 10 PM on ABC, and marks the first time Janet has allowed cameras into her Malibu mansion.
Michael Jackson was nominated for the Artist of the Year Award at the 2009 American Music Award, in a live press conference from Los Angeles on Tuesday morning.
The King of Pop also picked up four noms for his 2003 greatest hits collection; including Pop Rock Male, Pop Rock Album, R&B/Soul Male and R&B/Soul Album. Michael is eligible because the AMAs go by sales and air play, not based on the year the material may have been released.

Janet Jackson is speaking out in her first interview since the death of her older brother, pop legend Michael Jackson.
Janet tells Harper’s Bazaar Magazine that she hasn’t watched television since learning of Michael’s death of an overdose on June 25.
