Michael Jackson’s burial will finally take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale on Thursday. More than two months after his death, the King of Pop will be laid to rest in a private burial at 4PM PT.
Transit officials in New York City have vetoed plans to rename the site of Michael Jackson’s “Bad” music video in tribute to the singer. In 1987, Jackson teamed up with Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese to shoot the 16-minute short film — featuring Wesley Snipes — at Hoyt-Schermerhorn Subway Station in Brooklyn.
Officials at the city’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) have scrapped the plan because they fear tourists and commuters will be confused by the name-change.
“Having Michael Jackson visit and moonwalk at this station was a huge deal not only for Brooklyn, but all of New York in the ’80s. And renaming this station in his honor would put it on the map and help ensure that people don’t forget,” says New York City Councilwoman Letitia James, who is spearheading the campaign for the Jackson subway tribute.
Conrad Murray, the doctor at the center of the investigation into the death of Michael Jackson has released a one-minute video message thanking his patients and friends for their support as he awaits word on whether or not he will face manslaughter charges in connection with the King of Pop’s possible drug overdose on June 25.
In the one-minute video, the cardiologist says he has been “afraid to return phone calls or e-mail” in the weeks since Jackson’s passing.
The King of Pop has been laid to rest — seven weeks after his death.
Michael Jackson, who passed away on June 25, has been buried at the star-studded Forest Lawn Cemetery in the Hollywood Hills, Entertainment Tonight has learned.
Rap superstar Kanye West hit his Official Website in full Bitch Mode on Friday afternoon to shoot down rumors that he is taking the title of the “King of Pop” away from late icon Michael Jackson.
“I was just listening to [radio host] Wendy Williams and heard some quote about me saying I’m the new King of Pop,” he wrote. “Not only did I not say that, I haven’t said anything.”
“It makes me feel bad that obviously I made people feel that I would be corny enough to say something so whack after the passing of an idol, a legend and more than that a human being with feelings and a family,” Kanye went on.
“I have a feeling that this won’t be the last false statement with my name on it, but this will be the last time I defend myself. I’m done.”
Would someone slip a muzzle on Joe Jackson already?
In a joint interview with NewsOne/TVOne correspondent Smokey Fontaine, 80-year-old Jackson Family patriarch Joe Jackson reveals that rumors of a “Secret Michael Jackson Lovechild” are true.
