A public viewing for late pop star Michael Jackson will not happen at the singer’s former fantasyland at Neverland Ranch, the Jackson family announced in a statement on Wednesday afternoon.
“Contrary to previous news reports, the Jackson family is officially stating that there will be no public or private viewing at Neverland. Plans are underway regarding a public memorial for Michael Jackson, and we will announce those plans shortly,” a rep for the family said.

The siblings of Michael Jackson may be embarking on a series of tribute concerts celebrating the life of the late King of Pop, Billboard Magazine has learned.
According to Billboard, Janet would headline the tour while the remaining members of the Jackson 5 would open the concerts.
The proposed tour would either feature the Jacksons performing their brother’s songs on a tour of North American or fulfilling some of Michael’s sold-out London shows.
Usher, was unable to attend the BET Awards on Sunday night in Los Angeles because he is currently out of the country, but the singer is planning to honor the King of Pop when he returns to the States later this summer.
“It is with regret that I [was] unable to participate in the BET Awards Tribute to Michael Jackson on June 28,” Usher said in a statement released to the press on Monday.
“When the BET Awards producers and organizers reached out to me to participate in the tribute, I was extremely flattered and humbled by the opportunity to pay tribute to the world’s greatest musical icon,” the statement continued. “Unfortunately, I am currently overseas and would not make it back in time to the Awards show.”
“I look forward to seeing the show and I plan to work on a tribute to Michael Jackson when I return,” Usher added.
