Beyonce and Kelly Rowland are vying to hang on to their status as two of R&B’s most enterprising artists, their fellow former Destiny’s Child bandmate Michelle Williams will be competing on the UK reality competition Strictly Come Dancing!
“Michelle is a great booking for us – as she’s an amazing dancer and extremely glamorous. We said that we were aiming big this year – and we hope fans of the show will realize that with a booking like her,” a producer told the British press this week.
Damn Girl, you couldn’t at least get cast on Dancing With The Stars?!
Daddy Knowles is being sent “To The Left, To The Left.” Michelle Williams has become the latest former Child of Destiny to part ways with Beyonce’s manager dad Mathew Knowles. The singer has been managed by her former bandmate’s father since she joined the now defunct girl band in 2000, but on Tuesday, Michelle announced that she is parting ways with Knowles and his Music World Entertainment company so she can take her career “in a new direction.”
The move comes a year after ex-bandmate Kelly Rowland ditched Knowles as her manager.
“After much prayer and consideration I have decided to part ways from my management team, Mathew Knowles and Music World Entertainment,” Williams, who will take over the role of Roxie in the Broadway play Chicago next month,” said in a statement this week. “From my time in Destiny’s Child to my solo career, I am grateful for everything Mathew and his team has done for me. We’ve shared great success together. However, as I move in a new direction in my career, I felt it was time. I wish Mathew Knowles and the Music World Entertainment family all the best.”
Former Destiny’s Child star Michelle Williams is high-kicking her way into the role of Roxie Hart in Broadway’s Chicago.
Williams, 29, will replace Ashlee Simpson-Wentz as the wannabe star-turned-murderess for a limited run in the hit musical from Feb. 8 to March 28, PEOPLE Magazine revealed on Wednesday. The three-time Grammy Award winner made her New York stage debut in the Broadway production of Aida in 2003. Michelle has spent the past few years performing in London’s West End theater district, including a turn as Roxie in the British adaptation of the musical.
Michelle Williams performs her single “Hello Heartbreak” and a cover of Rihanna’s smash hit “Don’t Stop The Music” during a singing set for Yahoo! Pepsi Smash.
After making a impressive splash on the gospel music scene, Michelle Williams tried her luck on the mainstream tip with the release her first solo R&B album, Unexpected, on Tuesday.
