In an emotional interview on The Oprah Winfrey Show Monday, former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson tells Oprah that he was enraged over the death of his 4-year-old daughter Exodus last May. The little girl choked in a fatal treadmill accident in her mother’s Arizona mansion, but Tyson says he doesn’t want to know what went wrong.
“You don’t want to know?” Oprah asked
“If I know, then there might be a blame for it,” Iron Mike replied. “And if there’s somebody to blame for it, there will be a problem.”
He added: “My first instinct was a lot of rage, you know, and I was so happy that I had the tools in life, you know, to not go in that direction because I’ve been that direction. I know where that’s gonna lead me. I know I’m not gonna win.”
Mike Tyson says his acting gig on the new Fox series Brothers is helping him cope with the tragic death of his daughter 4-year-old Exodus last May.
“I really was beating myself up over my daughter. I was staying in the house, depressed; it was a dark moment in my life. [Acting] keeps me functioning as a healthy human being,” the one-time boxing world champ told Entertainment Tonight on Thursday.
“I am working with dealing with it. I have spoken to a lot of people. I have become a member of an exclusive club no one wants to join. I have been told the pain never stops but you get over it. I am going through a process, trying to heal. I am in denial, because I don’t know how to handle it. I don’t know what to do or say. I appreciate everybody who supported me….”

The 4-year-old daughter of boxing legend Mike Tyson is fighting for her life tonight after she was found in the family’s Phoenix home hanging from a treadmill with a cord wrapped around her neck on Monday morning.
Phoenix Police and paramedics were called out to the former heavyweight boxing champ’s home in the 6100 block of 10th Ave in Phoenix on reports of an unresponsive child at approximately 10:30AM. The girl’s 7-year-old brother found her and alerted their mother, who immediately contacted police.
“Somehow the little girl got something caught across her throat, she became unresponsive, the boy went and got the mother, and the mother came out and found the child,” says Phoenix Police Sgt. Andy Hill.
CPR was administered and Exodus Tyson was taken to St. Joe’s Hospital.
The child is on life support and listed in extremely critical condition.
Iron Mike — who was not home at the time of the accident — has lived in the Phoenix mansion with his girlfriend and their two children for the past five years.
Mike Tyson – who was accused of beating former wife Robin Givens and raping Rhode Island beauty queen Desiree Washington – says he can relate to Chris Brown, the 19-year-old singer accused brutually beating his pop star girlfriend, Rihanna.
“It’s none of my business, but you know what I say about that? I understand the situation. I understand passion with young kids,” the former World Heavyweight Boxing Champ told MTV News on Tuesday.
“My personal opinion about that is, he’s just a baby,” adds the former heavyweight champ. “He’s just a little baby that don’t know how to handle his emotions when it comes to a woman. And he probably hears this and thinks, ‘I know how to handle my emotions’; we all think we do.”
“But the fact [is],” Tyson continues, “you look at this person and you might be crazy in love, but we don’t know how to handle those feelings,” Iron Mike explains.
Chris has pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of assault and making criminal threats.
“Do I think it’s right to beat up a woman? No — hell no,” he adds. “Have I hit a woman before? Hell yeah. Was I wrong? Hell yeah. I’m a product of that environment. Do I regret ever doing that? Hell yeah. Would I do it again? Never.”
