Well, that was quick. Sony Pictures has commissioned a team of screenwriters to pen a sequel to the new No. 1 movie in America: The Karate Kid.

The studio is so impressed with its remake of Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita’s 1984 sleeper hit, they’re ordering a second helping. The new Kid — starring Jaden Smith as a bullied American boy who excels at kung fu under the instruction of strict trainer (played by Jackie Chan) — pulled in an opening gross of $56 million at the weekend box office, more than making back its $40 million budget in under three days.
