The start of September is the cusp of a new beginning from R&B star Donell Jones. The hitmaker returns from hiatus with the premiere of his new video “Love Like This,” a promo for the first single off his upcoming album Lyrics, available Sept. 28. The song’s already garnering a significant number of plays at adult contemporary radio stations across the nation. Check it out:
(Brotha needs to keep that hat on….)
One of the web’s most buzzed-about songs is now accompanied by a bit of imagery, thanks to this new video promo.
The bitter and single sad sacks of the world have a new theme song. The catchy and expletive-laden new song from Grammy-nominated Gnarles Barkley star Cee-Lo has gone viral less than a month after its release. The “Crazy” hitmaker has been scorned by a golddigging former girlfriend and is using the power of an uptempo ’50s beat to express how he feels in the new single “Fu*k You.” The video of the song’s lyrics racked up more than 1.8 million views in its first week of debut. The song contains 16 f-bombs in just three-and-a-half minutes and has been criticised for being in poor taste. Cee-Lo, however, insists his song — which is called “Forget You” for the sake of radio — is actually a work of art.
“What I’ve tried to accomplish, like, is making art products … so I still believe that (the song) can be classified as art because it’s an original piece and the edge and alternative is there, and the integrity is intact.”
The single is the first from Cee-Lo’s forthcoming album The Lady Killer, set for release on Dec. 7, 2010
Sultry R&B singer Jazmine Sullivan is readying the release of her sophomore album, Love Me Back, debuting Oct. 5. Good things are headed back to R&B: After a hiatus from recording, Donell Jones — whose hit catalogue includes tracks like “I’ll Go” and “Where I Wanna Be” — has stepped back in the lab. Here’s a sneak preview of Jones’ new video “Love Like This.” The track will serve as the first single off his upcoming comeback disc, Lyrics, premiering Sept. 28.
