The DWTS Curse strikes again! Grammy Award-winning singer Mya spent the night in a L.A. hospital after sustaining injuries to her finger on the eve of the ninth season of Dancing With The Has-Beens Stars.

“Went 2 the hospital late last night 2 get stitches. Deep cut from glass. Only caught 2 hours of sleep but feel great. Must be adrenaline,” she Tweeted in a message on her Twitter page Monday.

Nonetheless, Mya wants her fans to know that she’s feeling fine and is ready to hit the ground running on tonight’s premiere: “Nothing to worry about. Just an ugly slice on my finger-not the first time I’ve had stitches. I’ll be just fine. Thanks4the concern.”

The “Free” hitmaker, a professionally trained dancer who has appeared on Broadway, is a frontrunner to take home the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy this season.

Dancing With The Stars Season 9 premieres tonight @ 8PM on ABC.

Mya’s Broadway debut has been postponed. The Grammy Award-winning singer, who was scheduled to begin performances in the Tony-winning revival of Chicago on May 12th, has broken her foot.

“In the theatre industry, we are sometimes forced to deal with circumstances beyond our control. But speaking for the entire Chicago creative team, we all wish her a speedy recovery, and look forward to experiencing her portrayal of Velma Kelly as soon as possible,” Barry Weissler, producer of Chicago, said in statement on Tuesday.

Grammy Award-winning singer Mya will make her Broadway debut in the stage production of Chicago. Mya portrayed “Mona” in the film version of the Tony-winning musical, but will now take on the lead role of Velma Kelly onstage in New York. Mya has signed on for a nine-week run in the show at the Ambassador Theatre beginning May 12th.

Mya will leave Motown Universal Records in 2008, and plans to continue to pursue her music career as an independent artist. Read the rest of this entry »
