So much for a reconciliation: Nas has filed a legal bid to prevent his estranged wife Kelis from receiving spousal support payments, TMZ.com reported Monday.
The former hip-hop supercouple has been embroiled in a bitter divorce since April. In July, Nas was ordered to pay the “Milkshake” hitmaker $55,000-a-week in spousal and child support by a New York judge, but now the star is trying to knock down those payments.
Nas is also seeking joint custody of his baby son.
The Tax Man cometh for Nasty Nas…….The Internal Revenue Service has slammed hip-hop heavyweight Nas with a demand for $2.5m in unpaid taxes, according to reports Monday.
The IRS has requested that the rapper pay the massive figure for outstanding taxes owed between 2006 and 2007, according to TMZ.com.
The tax bill is the least in a string of money troubles for Nas, who was recently ordered to pay his estranged wife Kelis and their infant son Knight $30,471 a month in support.
CNN spoke with Nas about the recent beating death of Chicago honor student Derrion Albert over the weekend — and boy did he get some introduction! Peep the video:
Grammy-nominated rapper Nas has penned an open letter to America’s youth in light of the brutal beating death of a 16 year-old high school student in Illinois last Thursday. Chicago Police say Derrion Albert, an innocent bystander, was savagely slain as he tried to help a fellow student trapped in the middle of a fight between two gangs.
A heartbreaking three minute video shot by a fellow student on her cell phone was released to police and ultimately provided the evidence which led to the arrests and charges of four teenagers — Silvonus Shannon, 19, Eric Carson, 16, Eugene Bailey, 18, and Eugene Riley, 18. Warring exes Kelis and Nas have reportedly reconciled.
Kelis filed for divorce in April, citing irreconcilable differences amid rumors of verbal abuse and alleged infidelity. The “Milkshake” star was pregnant with the couples first child at the time — a son named Knight, who is now two months old. In an interview with the Straight Magazine to promote his show in Canada last weekend, Nas briefly addressed the rumors flooding the interwebs about his relationship with soon-to-be-ex-wife Kelis. Despite reports that he was unfaithful, and is even expecting a child outside of his marriage, Nas believes he was a “hell of a husband.”
“It’s funny that someone would even care about some Nasir Jones shit,” he told the magazine. “I’m still that kid from the block at the end of the day.… So when I watch this shit, it’s surreal. We get a good laugh off it and say, ‘Hey, they’re talking about me again and it’s some funny shit.’…I heard that I was a cheater….It almost sounds like I was a bad husband. Not to say I was the greatest — I’m not perfect in anything I do — but I think I deserve a fucking trophy. If I do say so myself, without sounding too cocky, I gotta say I was a hell of a husband and a hell of a dad…..It’s unfortunate when business is out there about your personal shit, especially when you’re really not the guy to be having his shit out there. The sad thing is, you’ve got to get used to it. My skin is so thick that I probably need to write a book for people who are not ready for anything crazy.”
Wow — Kelis wasn’t joking when she went on the Twitter tangent against cheaters earlier this summer.
According to a scoop featured in Wednesday’s edition of The Chicago Sun-Times, on top of having to shell out approximately $44,000 a month to his “Milshakin’” ex for spousal and child support for their newborn son Knight — there’s now word that one of Nas’ Buss It Babies is currently pregnant with another of “God Son’s” seeds …
A judge has ordered Nas to pay his estranged wife nearly $44,000 in monthly support for the near future, The Associated Press reported on Thursday. The move comes one day after R&B singer Kelis gave birth to the divorcing couple’s baby boy, Knight Jones.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Louis Meisinger issued the order during a Thursday afternoon hearing.
In April, Kelis, whose full name is Kelis Rogers, filed for divorce from the rapper after four years of marriage. The two have spent the past several months arguing over support payments.
Nas was banned from witnessing the birth of his baby boy because he was too drunk, according to a report from TMZ.com.
The hip-hop star had been performing in New York earlier in the night, where he announced to fans in the crowd that he was drunk on champagne, according to the gossip site. Nas later turned up at the bedside of his estranged wife — R&B singer Kelis –but staff turned him away, reportedly because he was under the influence of alcohol. Read the rest of this entry »
