Rev. Al Sharpton served as the officiating pastor as new parents Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey renewed their wedding vows in a Los Angeles hospital room over the weekend. The songbird, 41, and her much younger hubby celebrated their wedding anniversary with the arrival of fraternal twins on Saturday.

On her three-year anniversary with Cannon, Carey gave birth to a baby girl weighing 5 pounds, 3 ounces, followed by a baby boy, who weighed 5 pounds, 6 ounces. The family listened to Carey’s “We Belong Together” after the babies were born, Carey’s representative, Cindi Berger told PEOPLE.

“Thank you to @THEREVAL who came all the way to the hospital to renew me and my wife’s vows and pray with our children. Yep we just had a wedding in the hospital!” Nick, 30, Tweeted following the ceremony.

Rev. Al followed up with: “I am just leaving Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. She had twins yesterday on their 3 rd anniversary. I had prayer with them and the babies. I also conducted the renewal of their vows and the blessing of the newborn twins. Mariah looks GREAT, and the babies are beautiful. I am so moved by the sincere spiritual commitment of Mariah and Nick. They have not let success separate them from GOD. I am so proud.”

Mimi’s a mama! Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary by becoming parents to a baby girl and boy on Saturday afternoon.

The girl, the first-born, weighed 5 pounds, 3 ounces and was 18 inches long. Her barely younger brother was 3 ounces heavier and an inch longer. The Cannon-Careys fittingly played Mariah’s hit song “We Belong Together” shortly after their twins were born.

“I’m in the happiest place I’ve ever been in my life,” Nick Tweeted on Sunday. “I never had more amazing things happening. I am humbled by God’s Favor!”

The Grammy winner was calm and relaxed as Cannon, 30, drove her to the hospital in their Rolls-Royce Phantom, but that he was nervous and frantic, even going to the wrong department of the hospital, Carey’s longtime rep Cindi Berger told The Associated Press over the weekend.

“Nick was very nervous and Mariah was completely calm. Mariah thought it was another soft labor and Nick was driving her to the hospital and she very calm and the music was blasting. When they walked into the hospital, [Nick] was going the wrong way and the nurse redirected them to go the maternity ward, and I said to her, ‘that’s right out of I Love Lucy,’ and she laughed.”

Nick and Mariah went through a miscarriage early in their marriage before the songbird, 41, became pregnant again last year. They announced that she was pregnant with twins after informing President Obama and his wife Michelle at a holiday party in Washington in December.

The new parents are still working on names for their new arrivals.

Mariah is one in a long line of famous celebrity bumps to get exposed on the cover of fashion mags. Actress Demi Moore famously posed nude for Vanity Fair in 1991. Britney Spears did it too. Christina Aguilera stripped off for Marie Claire’s Jan. 2008 issue, and ’90s supermodel Claudia Schiffer got naked for German Vogue just last year. Dad-to-be Nick, on the other hand, is already rethinking his decision to strip off. The couple posed together nude in a series of photos peppered throughout the mag, which they plan to put up on the walls of their home.

“My children are going to have to see these pictures. It’s a little weird. It’s a little nasty – I mean, have you ever seen your parents naked? When they get older and their friends come over, they will see the pictures and say, ‘Your daddy’s butt naked.’”

Singing and a love of lip gloss are just two of the things expectant parents Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey have in common. Both are also eternally attached to sibilings who double as walking embarrassments. Just weeks after Mariah’s HIV-positive sister was outed by The National Enquirer for working as a Long Island escort. Nick’s brother — Gabriel Cannon — has been detained by police near Los Angeles on suspicion of assault and robbery.

Gabriel -– who reportedly fathered a child with For the Love of Ray-J alum Monica “Danger” Leon -– was detained in Studio City on Wednesday (March 9) along with an unnamed associate for allegedly attacking Alejo Moreno and Alex Moreno, a father and son who work in reality TV, and attempting to steal video camera equipment.

“My dad goes around the front and he sees them taking our cameras out through the front. They took both of our cameras, the ones we work with every day,” Alejo tells CBS’ Los Angeles affiliate.

Alex adds: “They robbed us and beat us. They were all in the building. They tried taking our jewelry, they took my platinum cross, they tried ripping my watch off, our diamond earrings.”

Cannon appeared opposite his brother in the 2006 movie Even Money.

“Yes, we are pregnant, this is true!”a beaming Mariah confirmed. “It’s been a long journey. It’s been tough because I’ve been trying to hold on to a shred of privacy.”

The baby is due next spring.

The 41-year-old singer is said to be “very excited” about expecting twins with husband Nick Cannon – who she married in May 2008 – but is trying to keep the news quiet.

The Enquirer reports the “Hero” hitmaker is expecting a double bundle of joy.

“Mariah is gushing that she’s going to have twins. Mariah and Nick both want a big family.”

Carey recently dropped out Tyler Perry’s forthcoming film, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf– citing medical reasons — which fueled rumors of a pregnancy.

A spokesperson for the star refused to confirm or deny the news. “I am not at liberty to discuss Mariah’s personal life at this time.”

The renewal ceremony has become sort of a tradition for the diva and her DJ/rapper/TV producer beau — who wed on April 30, 2008. The couple now renew their wedding vows on each anniversary.

Blame It on The Alcohol? It appears Mariah has been “Saying Ahh” again. The songbird surprised hubby Nick Cannon by phoning into his NYC radio show on Tuesday, claiming to be “Debbie From Long Island” — a woman obsessed with watching porn.

Nick Cannon, husband of Mariah Carey and host of the NBC talent show America’s Got Talent, will be joining the airwaves in New York City every morning beginning in January.

“I have been immersed in the entertainment business for more than half my life. With continued success in television, film and music both on and off camera, in addition to directing, writing and producing, radio is both an exciting and natural next step in my career. I look forward to waking up audiences and making friends across the tri-state area on New York’s Hit Music Channel, 92.3 NOW,” he said in a press release.

Cannon is making his foray into radio with a daily morning drive show on CBS Radio’s WXRK-FM New York (92.3 Now). Nick’s program on the “hit music station” will feature a mix of the most popular music, celebrity interviews, and pop culture and lifestyle discussions. He debuts on the Top 40 station Jan. 19.
