Following a musical tribute that included former Goodie Mobster Cee-Lo Green wearing a Patti LaBelle-inspired headdress and blouse, Ms. Patti punctuated her own Lifetime Achievement Award win by performing a couple of classics, including “Love, Need, and Want You” and her ’70s breakout hit, “Lady Marmalade,” at Sunday night’s 2011 BET Awards.
R&B legend Patti LaBelle joined eccentric pop star Lady Gaga for an impromptu performance at the CFDA Fashion Awards Afterparty in New York this week. Gaga stripped off her designer frock and partied in a mesh bodysuit, nipple pasties and spiky G-string as she partied at the Standard Hotel in New York. The “Born This Way” singer was celebrating winning an award for being a Style Icon earlier that night. At least she covered up her nips this time!
Chris Brown and Jill Scott will take the stage at this month’s BET Awards, while R&B icon Patti LaBelle is up for the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award. Chris and Jill join the previously announced Alicia Keys as performers for this year’s BET Awards show in Los Angeles, show organizers said Tuesday. Brown leads the field with nominations in six categories. Scott, an R&B superstar, poet, and actress, is set to release her fifth studio album Light of the Sun later this month.
The 2011 BET Awards, hosted by comedian Kevin Hart, will air live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on June 26.

R&B legend Patti LaBelle will join the cast of the Broadway musical Fela! on Tuesday, Sept. 14. The “Love, Need, and Want You” crooner will take over the role of Fela’s mother, Funmilayo Anikulapo-Kuti, through Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, when the hit show will play its final scheduled performance.
She’s taking over for Tony Award-winner Lillias White, who will exit her role as Funmilayo on Sept. 12.
Fela! is currently playing at Broadway’s Eugene O’Neill Theatre.

Patti Labelle flipped out on a fan during a concert in Kansas City, MO last Friday night. Miss. Patti brought an audience member up and the two started dirty dancing a little bit. Patti then said to the audience “Oooooh, he was coming so close.” The audience member responded with, “I think you wanted it more than I did.”
Patti told him: “You’re rude! You are very frickin’ rude! I don’t play that! This is not Lil’ Kim! Do you know who I am?!”
