The days of P-Poppin’ and sex-fueled free-for-alls with strippers have come back to haunt Uncle Luke.

In case you’ve been living under a bridge for the past month, the former 2 Live Crew rapper –- whose government name is Luther Campbell –- has launched an aggressive campaign to become the next mayor of Miami. It seems, however, the Uncle Luke’s bid for the key to the city just isn’t receiving ample financial backing from his fellow South Beachers. A Luke-hosted fundraiser in North Bay Village this week raised a measly $250 for the cause, according to local reports. He’d hoped to raise at least $5,000 by charging $25 to $500 per patron at the event.

Ouch!

The Miami-Dade County native is already lagging behind his political opponents, Hip-Hop Wired said this week. Fellow mayoral candidate Jose “Pepe” Cancio has already raised $160,000, Carlos Gimenez’s reported raising about $230,000, Marcelo Llorente already pocketed $370,000, and donors have graced Julio Robaina’s campaign with over $600,000.

Wyclef Jean is throwing his fitted cap into the ring to become the next president of Haiti.

This week, Jean confirmed to Time.com that he will run for President of Haiti in this year’s Nov. 28 election.

The former Fugees frontman was born near Port-au-Prince, but moved to New York City as a child and spent most of his life in Brooklyn. Nevertheless, Clef — as he is still affectionately called by fans — remains popular in his homeland for his music and work through his charity Yele Haiti, which raised millions of dollars after the Jan. 12 earthquake that killed an estimated 300,000 people and knocked down most of the government ministries and many of the homes in the impoverished island capital.

Wyclef says had it not been for the devastating quake, he may have never decided to join the political process: “If not for the earthquake, I probably would have waited another 10 years before doing this. If I can’t take five years out to serve my country as President…then everything I’ve been singing about, like equal rights, doesn’t mean anything.”

The congressman says he isn’t aware of any associates of his having made such an overture to the governor on his behalf.
