Will Smith’s production company is teaming up with Sony to give Queen Latifah a new daytime talk show in 2013.

The rapper/singer and actress has teamed with Overbrook Entertainment bosses Will and Jada Pinkett Smith and Sony Pictures Television to produce a new series that will impact daytime TV within the next two years, producers say. Latifah and her Flavor Unit Entertainment partner Shakim Compere will co-produce the project.

Overbrook’s spokesman Miguel Melendez says:

“We have known and admired Latifah for over 20 years, dating back to our music days, to her first television role on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and years later when she worked with Jada on the film Set It Off. This forum is the perfect place to showcase Latifah’s tremendous range of talents and unique ability to connect and inspire people.”

As you may or may not remember with Warner Bros.’ TelePictures for a talk show that lasted two seasons before being axed in 2001.

Is there nothing Dana Owens can’t do? Oscar-nominated actress-singer-hip-hop pioneer Queen Latifah is designing her own clothing line for the Home Shopping Network (HSN), which will feature clothes and accessories for women size 2 to 24.

“I’m so excited about it. This is something I have wanted to do for a very long time. I’ve been offered a lot of deals for clothing lines and actually started one that didn’t quite get off the ground but this is like a full circle moment for me,” the native Jersey Girl told PEOPLE.com Tuesday. “This is a young 14-year old, 17-year old and 22-year old Dana trying to go shopping and actually finding the things she wants to wear or going on HSN and ordering the clothes she likes because they’re there and they are in her size. This has been a bit of a journey and it’s a really exciting venture.”

Latifah says she’s already chosen the handbags as her favorite pieces from the collection.

“I have a bag fetish. I’ll have on sweatpants and a $3000 purse,” the Chicago star laughs. “I don’t deny myself, bags are the one thing I’ll allow myself to splurge on. I think the bag line is going to be really good. It’s versatile so it’s not going to look like the same bag from one collection to the next. There’s something for everyone. I definitely want to be able to rock my bag. I figured, if I can rock it, why shouldn’t other people be able to?”

Queen Latifah is joining the army of celeb perfumers with the release of a new scent by Parlux Fragrances. Queen by Queen Latifah — featuring hints of mandarin, jasmine, cognac, Moroccan coriander, and Egyptian — will debut this August, starting at $49 for a 1.7 oz. bottle, the rapper-singer-actress announced this week.

“Beauty really does start on the inside. It’s like a state of mind, a state of love, if you will. So I see a fragrance as just a natural expression of this state of love: Scent expresses a woman’s confidence and sensuality, it’s how she embraces her body, her mind and her strength,” the Oscar-nominated star said in a statement Monday.

Queen Latifah was the victim of childhood sexual abuse.

In the July issue of Essence — on newsstands June 12 — Queen Latifah reveals that she was once molested by a teenage babysitter and the incident left her unable to form meaningful relationships as an adult.

“He violated me,” the 39-year-old revealed.

“I never told anybody. I just buried it as deeply as I could and kept people at an arms length. I never really let a person get too close to me,” Queen continued. “I could have been married years ago, but I had a commitment issue.”

Latifah says she didn’t tell anyone untill the death of her brother when she was 22 years old. “I had to get it off my chest. My mother felt terrible. She was kind of a country girl, so she wasn’t up on how slick people could be. When I told my dad, he said nothing.”

The Hairspray star says she blamed herself for the sexual abuse for years, but came to terms with it after seeking the advice of a therapist. “I was a kid, and I had no power or control over the situation. I really wish I’d had the strength and the knowledge to say something sooner, because I always wondered, Did he do that to someone else? But I accept that the time for action has come and gone.”

Queen Latifah will hosting BET’s televised After Party Bash, which will air immediately after the live show — hosted by Jamie Foxx — live from The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on June 28.

A makeup artist and a fashion stylist are suing Queen Latifah amid claims that the Oscar-nominated actress stiffed them to the tune of $1 million.

Celebrity cosmetology consultant Roxanna Floyd says she lost $700,000 when the rapper-actress failed to pay her for work she did between July 2005 and February 2008. In a separate lawsuit, celebrity fashion stylist Susan Moses said she was cheated of $300,000 during the same period.

Both lawsuits were filed in federal court in Manhattan on Monday.

Thieves broke into the Oscar-nominated actress’ $1,000-a-night luxury villa at the Stone Haven Resort in Trinidad and stole $10,000 of Queen Latifah’s jewelry.

A spokesperson for island police told Trinidad and Tobago’s Newsday newspaper that they believe a staff member of the $1,000-per-night resort may be involved.

“Several searches are being carried out and the police are trying to have the jewelry returned to Queen Latifah. Investigators said the larceny seems to be an inside job and efforts are being made round the clock to make a breakthrough,” acting police commissioner James Philbert told the newspaper.
