R&B crooner Montell Jordan is hanging up his microphone to become a man of the cloth.

The star has recorded a host of hits over the course of his nearly 20 year career, but is perhaps best remembered for his 1995 hit “This Is How We Do It.” The South Central Los Angeles native still “does it like nobody does,” but Montell’s singing a new note in the key of “praise” after receiving a call to join the ministry earlier this month. He’s officially given up R&B to become a licensed minister. After a brief stint in the seminary will assume his position as the new worship pastor at Victory World Church in Norcross, Georgia, Jordan told his 2,000-plus Twitter followers in a flurry of Tweets last week.

“I’m sending a personal invitation to the saved, the unsaved and especially the unsure…This has been the best decision I have ever made in my life,” he said.

“It’s just been an amazing career. And it has been great,” Jordan further noted in a chat with Atlanta’s WXIA-TV. “But it’s a calling that’s probably been with me all my life, since I was a child. And I’ve known it. A lot of people in the business know it and have the same calling, but that leap of faith is difficult.”

Montell’s will turn in his final LIVE performance of “This Is How We Do It” this New Year’s Eve, Dec 31, 2010, at a still undisclosed location.

Former B2K boy bander J-Boog — aka Jarell Damonte Houston — was arrested for domestic violence on the mother of his three young children at the family’s L.A. home over the weekend — TMZ has learned.

Boog was collared Sunday at his home following a dustup with his partner.

“A patrol unit was dispatched to investigate a domestic violence call,” a police spokesperson said. “He was subsequently arrested and booked on suspicion of domestic assault, a felony.”

The vocalist, who found fame with fellow B2Kers Omarion, Raz-B and Lil’ Fizz on tracks like “Uh-Huh” and the Diddy-produced “Bump, Bump, Bump,” is being held on $66,000 bail. He also has several warrants that had been issued against him for a series of driving offenses.

New Jack Swing pioneer and producer Teddy Riley has taken to the Interwebs to defend himself against allegations that he beat the brakes off his “ungrateful” teen daughters during a brawl in the family’s home two days before Christmas.

The girls say Riley “stomped” and “bashed” them with the guitar from the Rock Band video game in the melee. Taja Riley, 18, even took former Guy and Blackstreet crooner is defending his actions in a series of Tweets and this open letter posted online Wednesday:

Due to recent events, I am compelled to respond in detail to accusations made against me, by my daughters. I love my Daughters, but I will not allow my children to disrespect me in my home. Contrary to what I have been accused of, I would never beat my children.

The young woman also claims her famous father, now 43, punched, kicked and bashed her and her older sister before kicking them out of the family’s Los Angeles home on Dec. 23. She suffered injuries to the temple, bruises on her knee and contusions on her face and has been granted a temporary restraining order.

In the documents, filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Taja claims at one point Teddy, “lifted a Rock Band guitar and threatened to kill person(s) w/ it.”

Riley — who worked with artists like Michael Jackson and Keith Sweat at the height of his career — has been strapped for cash in recent years.

Some of the biggest names in hip-hop and R&B will release a compilation album to benefit the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.

All proceeds True To The Game, available October 21, will be donated to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Missouri. The museum is expected to use the proceeds to help fund a $15 million education and research center within the historical landmark building where the Negro Leagues were established in 1920.
