One alleged adulterer defends another: Cleveland Cavaliers star Shaquille O’Neal is coming to the rescue of alleged serial cheater Tiger Woods in the wake of rumors surrounding the state of the golfer’s marriage and his car accident last week.

“Tiger’s my guy,” Shaq said Tuesday. “I’m not going to be like everybody else and say off-the-wall comments. I just hope he’s OK.” For the better part of a week, Tiger has been embattled by claims that he cheated on his wife, former Swedish model Elin Nordegren, with a series of one; including NYC nightclub hostess Rachel Uchitel and former VH1 reality star Jaimee Grubbs (of Tool Academy fame). The Florida Highway Patrol said Tuesday that the PGA champ will get a careless driving citation for the one-car crash near his home, and that will close the investigation. Serena Williams has been slammed with a record-setting $82,500 fine thanks to her foul-mouthed tirade against a judge during the U.S. Open last summer.

Williams lashed out at a lineswoman after a foot-fault call at the end of her semifinal loss to Kim Clijsters during an Open match in September. Williams already paid $10,000 for the profanity-laced rant, but after further investigation it was determined that she violated a “major offense” rule for “aggravated behavior” and the tennis champ has been hit with another fine and a two year probation sentence, Grand Slam administrator Bill Babcock said Monday.

Any more bad behavior from Serena, and she could be fined up to $175,000 and barred from the U.S. Open altogether.

Famed hoopster Shaquille O’Neal picked up the tab for the funeral of Shaniya Davis after being moved by national news coverage about the 5-year-old North Carolina girl police say was sold into child prostitution by her mother, The Associated Press reported Thursday.

Authorities believe Shaniya was kidnapped, raped, and murdered after being reported missing Nov. 10. Her body was found six days later on a roadside about 30 miles from her hometown of Fayetteville, North Carolina. Her funeral was Sunday.

In a statement released by his team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, on Thanksgiving Thursday, the famed hoopster — a dad himself — said he was touched after hearing the little girl’s story on The Nancy Grace Show.

“What happened to her was tragic. I wanted her to have a funeral that would be as beautiful as she was,” O’Neal said in the statement.

It’s all over for A.I…….Allen Iverson, one of the NBA’s most prolific scorers, is calling it quits at 34, according to an online report. Commentator Stephen A. Smith — a close friend and basketball analyst — published a statement on his website Wednesday, attributed to Iverson, claiming the All-Star guard plans to retire from the league.

Former basketball forward and colorful commentator Charles Barkley added his voice to the discussion about Sammy Sosa’s questionable new skintone during a TNT doubleheader Thursday night.

Another split has hit Black Hollywood. Shaquille O’Neal’s wife of six years, Shaunie O’Neal, has filed for legal separation. The bombshell comes two years after the NBA start first started divorce proceedings.

Shaq and Shaunie split in September 2007 amid allegations that Shaunie was sleeping with her personal trainer and being secretive about her monetary assets. The couple reunited in August 2008 and vowed to work through their problems. But their efforts have not been successful, according to papers filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Monday.

Shaunie and the couple’s four children have abandoned the family’s Florida home and relocated to California, where she will likely have an easier time securing spousal support, PEOPLE reports. She is also seeking child support as well as legal and physical custody of their children. Shaq and Shaunie would have celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary next month.

On Tuesday morning, basketball great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar announced that he is battling a rare form of cancer.

The all-star NBA legend was diagnosed with a rare type of blood cancer known as Philadelphia chromosome-positive chronic myeloid leukemia late last year. He has not spoken about his battle publicly until now, and hopes to inspire others as new treatments are available to patients with the disease.

The type of cancer Kareem faces affects the blood and bone marrow.
