Word on the Curb has it that actor/comedian Kevin Hart — the pint-sized star of flicks like Little Fockers, Soul Plane, and Death at a Funeral — has been tipped to play Steve Harvey in Act Like a Man, the upcoming film adaptation of the entertainer’s 2008 New York Times bestselling relationship manual Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man.

Just when you thought the last thing The Steve Harvey Saga needed was another infusion of tomfoolery, we now hear that the new Mrs. Harvey is preparing a defamation of character lawsuit against the old one.

Ah — don’t you miss the days when the most interesting thing about Steve’s personal life was the debate over whether or not his high-top fade was really a toupee?

Marjorie Harvey has retained an attorney to fight a series of scandalous allegations brought by Steve’s former wife, Mary, including one which claims that Marjorie was the “Other Woman” and carried on a long-term affair with the comic before Steve ultimately left Mary after 16 years in 2005. The allegations were made via a series of 3 videos posted over the weekend and Marjorie says she’s “shocked and dismayed” by the allegations. According to Mary, she asked for a divorce after she came across emails and text messages between Steve and Marjorie, who first met in 1986.

“As a wife and a mother, I cannot stand back and allow the defamation of my character or actions that will malign my family,” Marjorie said in a statement, released through her attorney C. Anthony Mulrain, to BlackVoices.com on Tuesday. “So, I will do what I need to do to the greatest extent of the law.”

Marjorie further characterized the three viral videos that Mary Harvey posted as “malicious and baseless.” She also says that: “The posting is nothing more than a sad attempt by Mary to make herself relevant in the eyes of the media.”

Uh-oh — It sounds like Mary Harvey’s weekend of soul-purging on YouTube has gotten the down-and-out ex-wife of so-called romance expert Steve Harvey into a pickle with the comedian’s legal team.

And you know what that means: lawsuit! Chile, these are the things Tyler Perry plays are made of!

“We are appalled and aware of the videos and other fabricated documents … which contained false, misleading, derogatory, disparaging, malicious, explicit and slanderous information about Mr. Harvey, his current wife and others,” Steve’s attorney, Bobbie Elliott, fumed in a press release issued Monday afternoon.

“The ex-wife is fully aware of the court’s current orders and permanent injunctions which prohibit either party, their lawyers or representatives from discussing and releasing information on the Internet and to the media. We are taking the necessary legal steps to rectify this matter to the full extent of the law and we will be seeking contempt and sanctions against her for such reprehensible and callous disregard for the court orders,” the statement continued.

“We are saddened that the ex-wife has resorted to such devious and selfish behavior, with a reckless disregard for their minor son, her adult son and Mr. Harvey’s other children.”

Mary — who was with Steve for 16 years before she was unceremoniously dumped in 2005 — posted several videos online last weekend, in which she talks about their marriage, specifically saying that the jovial author was a chronic cheater who snatched custody of their son and left her with no more than a roll of toilet tissue after they split.

In three videos totaling more than 25 minutes, Mary dissects their entire relationship, from their first encounter in 1989, through the mid-1990s, when the couple lived in their car. Mary says after Steve tasted his first bite of success, he routinely shared his loins with numerous other women, and even began dating his current third wife — Marjorie Bridges Harvey — while they were still together.

Harvey, who has written several best-selling books offering relationship advice, which the radio personality had hoped would land him a spot on The Oprah Winfrey Network. Mary claims Steve is currently suing her in Texas, which is why she is speaking up now. “In Steve’s opinion, I was responsible when Oprah did not give him a TV show,” she says in Part III of the YouTube video. “I’m being sued for that as I sit here on the sofa today. … That is why I’m saying what I have to say.”

In the video, Mary details Steve’s rampant cheating with his mistresses –including one chick (identified as “Terri”) who sent a letter to Mary about unprotected sex she’d had with the funny guy — and dishes the deets of the affair he carried on with his current wife Marjorie while still married to the second Mrs. Harvey.

Ultimately, Steve allegedly abandoned Mary with no home or money — even taking custody of their young son, Wynton, who Mary says she is no longer permitted to have a relationship with. And get this — Harvey’s reportedly filed a defamation of character lawsuit in a Texas court against Mary, who he accuses of costing him a TV talk show on The Oprah Winfrey Network!

Steve Harvey, comedian-turned-wise-cracking relationship guru, is offering some “straight talk” on the “myth” that men and women can happily engage in platonic relationships.

The nationally-syndicated radio host solidified his standing as the 21st century’s answer to Dr. Ruth after his first book, Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man, shot to the top of The New York Times Bestsellers List in 2009.

In an interview with CNN’s Fredericka Whitfield, Harvey — who is promoting his newest relationship manual, Straight Talk, No Chaser – breaks down why members of the opposite sex can never be “just friends.”
