Decked out in a three-piece suit and surrounded by a crew of dancers, The-Dream stopped by ABC’s late night gabfest Jimmy Kimmel Live this week for a live performance of “Make Up Bag,” the second single from the singer’s new album, Love King, which dropped Tuesday.
In addition, the outspoken, and sometimes controversial, singer/songwriter/producer has released a 12-minute mini-movie ins support of the track.
A backlash over some candid remarks about friend and colleague Ciara has prompted The-Dream to delete his account on Twitter. In a recent interview with Parlour Magazine, the Grammy-winning MC said that Ciara is running out of chances for major success and one more flopped could be the final nail in the coffin of a career that’s seen better days.
Her fourth album Basic Instinct is set for release on Aug. 24.
Live from Tuesday’s WTF Files: The-Dream (real name Terius Nash) is burning up the blogosphere this afternoon after controversial comments the songwriter/producer made in a recent interview with Parlour Magazine.
The star — who has three children with R&B star Nivea — welcomed a daughter Violet with Cuban crooner Christina Milian last February, but don’t mistake him for a hands-on father. In fact, The-Dream can’t be bothered with late night feedings, dirty diapers, or anything that would confuse us into thinking he enjoys spending time with his own children.
“I don’t because my “helping out” turns into expectations. I’ll get Violet on a late night maybe one or two times, but after that, no. If Christina’s tired, call the nanny, call Violet’s granny. We got people.”
Expectations?….Yeah, we ladies tend to have those when we HAVE CHILDREN WITH SOMEONE!! Gurl, good day! (Please don’t correct me for referring to Terius as a girl. I know what I’m doing here.)
The-Dream covers the latest issue of Honey Magazine. In the cover story, he talks about fame, his retirement, and life with Christina Milian and daughter Violet.
On Being An Artist Or Writer: “I would probably rather write. It would be at my pace. It would be the more creative things I would do, because you have to understand, there’s a fan base for the type of music I make. But the same people that listen to ‘Purple Kisses,’ ‘Falsetto,’ and ‘Rocking That,’ most of them have no idea that I wrote ‘Umbrella,’ because of me giving up those records. I make that sacrifice.”
On Marriage To Christina: “Still learning. I’m definitely way more mature in this relationship. I’m probably just mature overall because my grandfather raised me. I probably should be more nonchalant. I’m in a place where everything is serious no matter what it is and she with me like, ‘This guy’s crazy.’ Of course I make sense at the end of the day because I’ll explain [myself]. As far as money — you got to be careful how you’re spending. Are you thinking about 10 years from now? It’s certain things that become meaningful in a relationship that’s not that real when you’re just boyfriend and girlfriend. The things I think about are a little bit different and those are things she’s learning from me and what I have to do is be more patient.”
Superproducer The-Dream has released a critically-panned cover of Aaliyah’s 1996 slow jam, “One in a Million.”
The song released on his upcoming mixtape, “Love Sessions,” has music fan frowning all over the blogosphere — and Mr. Christina Milian just can’t understand what all the fuss is about. In fact, the singer took the time to Tweet a response to all the “haters….”
“No one will ever [sing] Aaliyah’s ‘One in a Million’ like she did! Deff not me lol,” he wrote. “I did it because I [really] miss her still and it was out of respect! Ito her I’m still just a fan not a writer not an artist a Fan! Calm down the worlds not over. But [at least] y’all will remember how dope she was and still is to this day!”
Uh-huh….Next time, leave the singing to the songbirds, Terius!
Say hello to Violet Nash, the almost two-month-old daughter of R&B/hip-hop producer Terius “The-Dream” Nash and his wife — “Dip It Low” star Christina Milian.
Doesn’t she just make you want to say: “Girl, you look just like your Daddy!”
Mom and daughter make their big debut in the new issue of Us Weekly, on newsstands now.
Violet — who arrived Feb. 26 — is the first child for Christina and the fourth for Nash, who has three older children with ex-wife Nivea.
After the flop that was last year’s Fantasy Ride, Ciara is reinventing herself and is busy in the studio recording her upcoming fourth album — due out this summer. Ci-Ci taps into the mid-tempo sound that made her an R&B “It Girl” in the mid-2000s on the newly leaked track titled “Speechless,” featuring The-Dream.
Congrats to Christina Milian and her husband The-Dream — the newlyweds welcomed their first daughter last week. The singer-actress delivered a healthy daughter Violet, with “a full head of head,” on Feb. 26, a friend of the couple confirmed to PEOPLE on Monday.
Violet is the first child for Christina, 28, and the fourth for the Grammy-winner singer/songwriter/record producer, 31, who has three children with his ex-wife, R&B singer Nivea.
The-Dream and Christina Milian have confirmed that they are expecting their first daughter early next year.
The hip-hop producer and his singing wife — who announced the pregnancy in October — celebrated the birth with a baby in West Hollywood last Saturday. Guests were treated to a day of manicures, pedicures, and makeovers provided by Valerie Beverly Hills. Philippe West Hollywood and Famous Cupcakes catered the event, serving guests with bite-sized cupcakes and Asian-inspired flair.
The-Dream was snubbed at Wednesday night’s live ceremony announcing the contenders for the 2010 Grammy Awards — and he will have none of it! Check out his angry Tweets:
