Interesting! Not sure that it needed to go the route of hanging up on him. Even if you disagree with him, I beleive he is owed a certain level of respect. Russell has made a lot of noise about banning certain words in rap music. Agree or not, it is his opinion and it is disspointing to see him get hung up on like that.

It is funny how people are making a big deal out of this. For one…Russell Simmons hung up first after he was getting blasted for things he wasn’t saying. People need to start respecting one another. This DJ shouldn’t step on anyone’s toes in an industry that pays his salary. I really wanted to hear what Russell had to say but due to this Jockeys ignorance…I was unable to hear what he had planned and his outlook on the situation.

Why do you wanna hear what Russell has to say so badly? He’s asking for the removal of the word “nigga” “bitch” and “ho” from rap. Okay, many others have asked for this before Russell. Activists have went so far as to rent steam rollers and crush hundreds and thousands of CD’s by artists who use these words. All Russell did is ask for these words to be banned and people are going bananas. He’s the one that made these rappers a success. That is why the DJ asked Russell what he would say about people calling him a hypocrite. Then Russell got all upset. Get real. You are going to be questioned! Deal with it and learn to answer intelligently and in a civil manner. I would have hung up on him too. Do not try to talk over me on my own show. That’s why he got hung up on. Next!

Oh, and he only bleeps these words on radio edits, which is standard! Can someone please tell me what the big deal is? I’m going to listen to Tavis Smiley. He’s trying to educate and get our health on track so African Americans live longer than we are.
