Gang Starr lyricist Guru (real name is Keith Elam) has released a statement regarding the heart attack that left him briefly comatose and in surgery in a New York City hospital over the weekend.

The “Jazzmatazz” emcee, 43, says he’s feeling better — albeit a bit weak — and asks for privacy as he battles back for the near-death experience.

“I am doing fine and I am recovering! I’m weak though,” Guru, 43, told AllHipHop.com in a statement Wednesday. “Solar is the only person who has the accurate info on my situation. Any info from anybody else is false! I appreciate your well wishes and all the love!”
