Jay-Z: “Usher Could Be The ‘Next King Of Pop’”
The King of Hip-Hop so impressed with Usher’s tribute to the late King of Pop Michael Jackson at Sunday night’s 2010 Grammy Awards, he believes the “Yeah!” hitmaker has the juice to become the new King Of Pop.
Usher joined Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Smokey Robinson, and Carrie Underwood to perform MJ’s “Earth Song” at the 52nd annual awards ceremony. Jay-Z was watching from the audience at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and was powerfully moved by the show.
“I thought the Michael Jackson tribute was fantastic and I thought Usher was doing a magnificent job. I think he’s… He’s one of the guys that’s in line to, you know, fill those huge shoes. I don’t wanna put that pressure on him, but I think he’s one of the guys that’s in line to do that.”
